Hine Grand Champagne Cognac, 1935

Shipped & bottled by Saccone & Speed Ltd, London

Since many years Hine has upheld a tradition of making good vintage cognacs, mostly made of Grande Champagne. Many of them were early landed, late bottled cognacs: cognacs that were shipped to Great Britain one or two years after the distillation to ageing them in the humid warehouses near the chalky coasts of England. These have a reputation of being very elegant and well balanced.

In 1990, about 13,000 of these bottles – never before available in the West – were put to auction

Miguel Braga, the current owner, has handcrafted traditional wines, made and aged in the original estates in the Douro. This gives the wines a distinctive flavour profile. The Douro profile is more intense, dark, thick, sweet and spicy, with more intense aromas. With the release of a small number of aged tawnies, the market for these wines amongst aficionados has developed markedly in the last decade.

Golden colour. Intense and complex aromas of dried fruits associated with an amazing acidity that provides it an incredible explosion of freshness in the palate.

Cossart Gordon Madeira, 1934

Bual Madeira

Sercial is the name of a white grape grown in Portugal, especially on the island of Madeira. It has given name to the dryest of the four classic varieties of Madeira fortified wine.

The anglicised name Sercial came to be associated with the Madeira style rather than the grape variety, being the lightest, most acidic and delicate expression of Madeira that takes the longest to mature.

Fonseca Port, 1934

Vintage Port, DOC Douro

The house of Fonseca traces its origins to the early nineteenth century. The first evidence of the firm trading in Port is an entry dated 8th April, 1815, in the ledgers of the Real Companhia Velha, the royal monopoly company.
