Reviews:
***98 Points-James Suckling***
This is a superb baby Noval that reminds me of the 1966. Chewy yet so polished. The light sweetness suggests an overall dialing back of the sugar content.

Klein Constantia, 2016

Metis Sauvignon Blanc

The Producer
The Constantia Valley, home to Klein Constantia Estate, is the oldest vineyard region in the Cape, having produced wine since 1689. Klein Constantia is family-owned with a focus on quality rather than quantity. Metis Sauvignon Blanc was inspired by Pascal Jolivet and his holistic approach to winemaking in Sancerre. Using a unique and minimalistic approach to winemaking, we were able to make a wine that shows the true expression of the Constantia terroir. The name Metis refers to the collaboration between the two countries to produce this great wine. This fusion of philosophies is reflected in the flower on the label that is a hybrid of the South African Protea and French Iris.

This is a superb baby Noval that reminds me of the 1966. Chewy yet so polished. The light sweetness suggests an overall dialing back of the sugar content. Stemmy and lightly green. A truly classic Noval. Almost all from Pinhao. Buy. Better in 2025.

***18/20- Jancis Robinson MW***
Very dark crimson. Rich and spicy on the nose. Juicy and succulent. A hint of something almost overripe. Heady and very definitely not uptight. Sort of sprawls all over the palate in a devil-may-care fashion. Lots of fun, though the tannins are by no means insistent.

The Capela do Vesuvio (Vesuvio Chapel) is only made in years of exceptional quality. The 2016 is the third Capela Vintage Port to be released, since its debut Vintage in 2007. Capela do Vesuvio reflects the Symington family’s detailed knowledge of the vineyards that make up the majestic Vesuvio estate and this Port is crafted from vineyard to bottle in tiny quantities.

As with preceding Capela releases, this Vintage Port is inspired by the incredibly low-yielding 90-year-old vines from the Vinha da Capela vineyard,

Fragrance the nose has a mix of autumn hedgerow fruits aromatic. The palate has breadth of flavour power and depth in the middle the tannins are fine and quite discreet. There is underlying freshness bramble and bilberry slightly tight at the back with the rich fruit exploding on the finish. Drink: 2035-70

***18/20 Points-Jancis Robinson MW***
Very dark blackish crimson. Reminds me a little of the Noval Nacional for its wildness (and foot sweat?!). Rather heady mix of wild herbs and grasses. Very juicy indeed. Massive impact and drama with great grip on the end.

Sandeman Vintage Port, 2015

Quinta Do Seixho Vintage Port in presentation box.

*** 94 Points - Wine Enthusiast ***

Sandeman Quinta do Seixo 2015 Vintage Porto is an exceptional wine produced from carefully selected grapes exclusively from Quinta do Seixo, a winery situated in the Cima Corgo sub-region, in Douro Region.

An almost opaque deep red colour. A very intense aroma with balsamic notes of resin, cedar, tobacco box and shrubby touches. Additional spicy notes of black pepper, clove and ginger integrate with undertones of cocoa and chocolate, courtesy of a good maturation. In the mouth, this wine has excellent volume and firm, powerful tannins. Its well-integrated acidity balances notes of resin and spices and invites a long finish of great persistence.

Klein Constantia, 2014

Vin De Constance, Natural Sweet Wine (50cl bottle)

***95 Points, Outstanding-Aggregated Critic Score***

The Producer
Over 300 years of history in every bottle!
Klein Constantia is custodian to South Africa’s most historic vineyards. Located in the Table Mountain Valley, the first vineyards of Constantia were planted in 1685 by the Governor of the Cape, Simon van der Stel, who recognized the uniqueness of location, climate and decomposed granite soils. Klein Constantia’s lusciously sweet wine, Vin de Constance, rose to prominence in the 1800s. It was savored by the likes of Napoleon Bonapart, Queen Victoria and Thomas Jefferson and found its way into the writing of many great 18th and 19th century authors.

Prats and Symington, 2014

Chryseia

An extraordinary wine and a unique statement, the superb Chryseia brings premium Bordeaux technique to the character and richness of Portugal's distinctive local varieties. Like many 'challenging' vintages, 2014 favoured the top end - where the oldest vines in the best vineyards could be closely managed through the long dry summer. In fact the vast majority was harvested before the rain arrived - making a near perfect scenario. With a stellar track record, this always sells out. Decant or cellar - grab this before it goes!

This outstanding wine is the ultimate product of the Prats & Symington partnership, between the Symington family and French oenologist Bruno Prats.
