The next morning you wake up asking the world to win a battle.” Paolo Monelli, “The wandering glutton”, 1935. or: Barolo, How reminiscent of “the Atlas of the Langhe” published by Slow Food: “The oldest bottle bearing a MEGA (Additional Mention of the Geographic) on the label that mentions Cannubi 1752. This precious heirloom indicates how Cannubi vineyard was already famous and evaluated before the advent of the Barolo wine. The prestige of Cannubi has never known disgrace, indeed and always served to give luster to the wineries that produced it.

Brezza - Sarmassa

In ancient times, this area was called Salmassa, a name that probably originates from a source of brackish water welling up in its vicinity.
The soil of this vineyard, as is in the towns of Barolo and La Morra is made mostly from SANT’AGATA FOSSIL MARNE (TOV). The wines produced here are of grater quality in dry years: in fact, the highest percentage of clay and silt ensures a larger water retention, resulting in less stress on the vines that dwell in this land.
Barolo coming from this vineyard is much more elegant resulting in an earlier readiness for consumption. The usual combination suggest the game and read meat but given its elegance, goes well also for the whole meal.

Gigi Rosso - Trecomuni

TRECOMUNI is a Cantina Gigi Rosso registered trademark. According to the ancient Piedmontese tradition, in order to obtain a perfect Barolo, one has to source grapes from three different terroir. The Helvetian soil of Serralunga or Monforte will contribute character and longevity, the mixed soil of Barolo, Castiglione or Novello will bring finesse and elegance and finally the Tortonian soil of La Morra or Verduno will deliver fruit and freshness. From the union of three “Communes” this Barolo was born, thus combining all great features of different Barolo terroir soil types. Four years ago this ancient tradition became Maurizio Rosso’s new project.
