Croft Vintage Port, 2007

Vintage Port

93/100 (Outstanding) Wine Journal

"There is a nice limpidity on this Croft 2007. It is not the power that strikes you but the purity with black cherries, liquorices, violets and a hint of iodine. Very tight and focused. The palate is full-bodied with chewy tannins on the entry, pure blackberry, raspberry, white pepper and Asian spice towards the finish. Very fine focus, very pure and harmonious. Sensuous finish but it just tapers away when I need more grip and assertiveness. Still, this is a lovely Croft." Neil Martin , Wine Journal

Croft Vintage Port, 2003

Vintage Port

*** 93 Points - eRobert Parker ***

Vintage Ports are made exclusively from the grapes of one harvest. Bottled after two years in casks, it is in the bottle that the long, slow, ageing process transforms the young wine into a magnificent Vintage Port.
A Croft Vintage is only declared in years of optimum quality. These demanding standards mean that a Croft Vintage might be declared perhaps only two or three times in a decade.

Reviews: A medium intensity Port with a garnet core and mahogany rim. A lovely pronounced nose of figs and prunes, with some walnut characters. Also slightly earthy.

Croft Vintage Port, 1997

Quinta Da Roeda Vintage Port

Deep ruby with purple edge. Attractive cassis nose. Powerful, concentrated fruit aromas. Fresh, rich, firm, full fruit flavours; dark berries and chocolate. A wine with good body, structure and length.

Declared Vintages are the best vintage years which produce wines of great concentration and longevity. They are usually blended from the best produce of more than one estate. Croft’s declared Vintage Ports, although based on the wines of Quinta da Roêda, sometimes also contain wines from other top estates.

Croft is one of the most famous Vintage Port houses and its declared Vintage Ports, such as the legendary 1945 and more recently the award winning Croft 1994 are among the most sought after of all.

Croft Vintage Port, 1991

Croft Vintage Port

Wine Spectator awarded this 94 points!

Croft vintages are only declared a few times a decade, when a remarkable year has been had. This is a rounded, supple port with a phenomenal mouthfeel. Will continue to keep for another five or so years.

Deep, opaque, just turning on the rim. Still quite a dense nose with underlying plummy fruit and floral maturity just starting to emerge. Full, rich and fleshy with some bitter chocolate intensity at the core and a firm tannic grip building towards the finish. Alc: 20.5%. Drink 2011-25.

Croft Vintage Port, 1987

Quinta da Roeda Vintage Port in wooden presentation box - Special offer was £49.50 now £39.00

A mature nose, chocolately, coffee, medicinal hints. The palate is very appealing - a surge of delicious berry fruit, sweetness upfront, that dissipates into a quite mature mid-palate with hints of mint, chocolate and prunes. Big, full-bodied. But the richness quickly subsides into a dried, prune aftertaste. Croft themselves suggest that this specific vintage will be "perfection within ten to fifteen years" which means it's about as good as it will ever be.

Croft Vintage Port, 1982

Vintage Port

A medium-boded Croft port, the 1982 vintage port has a light and fruity aroma, backed up by delicious dark fruits on the palate with a sweetness that hints at burnt sugar at times. A well composed port that will perhaps not age as well as other vintage ports from this era, but is beautifully poised for drinking now.

Croft Vintage Port, 1970

Vintage Port

New stock please allow 10 days for delivery

From the outstanding 1970 Vintage, an wonderful port scoring 91 points.

A similar russet core, though a little clearer than the ’66. The nose has good definition and focus with an attractive bouquet of cooked meats, mulberry, spice and leather. Light and feminine, although it never really develops the nuance that I was hoping for in the glass. The palate is vigorous, note quite as elegant as the ’66, a little more alcoholic and unrefined, the finish more linear with liquorice, burnt toffee and raisin. Moderate length. Drinking now. Very fine.

Croft Vintage Port, 1960

Vintage Port OB

"Bright tawny with orange flecks, there are whacks of dried fruit and sultanas on the nose, with hints of bitter chocolate and Christmas pudding. The palate is sweet but balanced with a lovely acidity. A fascinating multilayered wine, with the oxidization bringing out maple syrup flavours, coupled with leather and cigar box aromas wrapped around rich dried fruit. Complex, captivating and holding up beautifully." Decanter, Fine Wine Encounter 2009.

Croft Vintage Port, 1985

Vintage Port

The 1985 will be an early-developing port. It shows aromas that border on overripeness and offers scents of plums and black cherries. Full-bodied, rich yet lush and soft, this husky wine had loads of concentration, a very sweet long finish and light tannins. Parker Wine Buyers Guide.
