Description

1983 Dow's Review:
The Dow 1983 is an outstanding port scoring 90 points on the Parker rating. Classic Dow's this wine has structure and is very sweet and round and slightly raisiny. Slight rustic edge but very ripe and round and lively with a certain freshness and punch. Long and powerful. Drinking well now but will hold for many years.

1983 Messias Port Review:
A very rare bottle of Vintage Port from the good 1983 Vintage - these are the only bottles available in the UK and are a true rarity. Unlike the colheita ports from the same year, this wine has aged in the bottle for nearly 40 years (As opposed to a barrel). It is among the rarest category of ports and is a delight for the port connoisseur.

1983 Graham's Port:
Graham is another great port house, producing one of the deepest-colored and sweetest styles of vintage port. Along with Taylor and Fonseca, Graham has probably been the most consistent producer of great port in the post- World War II era. Their vintage ports are truly sublime and sumptuous. The 1983, like most vintage ports, seems more forward than normal but has a great depth of very ripe, viscous, unctuous, plummy, tarry fruit and significant tannin in its long finish. It is black-purple in color. This is is certainly one of the top two or three ports of this vintage, and better than the excellent 1980. Parker Buying Guide 1989
