Description

Kopke Colheita Port
*** 92 Points Mark Squires Wine Advocate ***

Intense amber colour. Full and concentrated nose, dominated by the abundance of dried fruits, spices notes and a subtle touch of vanilla. Extremely refined in the mouth, elegant, with a notable character and a pleasant freshness. Long and persistent finish.

Reviews
"Simply lovely, this surely lacks the concentration of some of the older wines here, but it is no slouch and it has that concentrated flavor nuance in the background. Plus, it is gracious and graceful, with velvety texture and a soft, round feel. Those who adore them on the somewhat younger, less intense side can get some validation here, as this sunny wine is simply a delight to drink. It is nowhere near as intense or complex as, say, Kopke’s ’53, though, but it is hard to resist and its sweet, delicious finish is completely charming. 92 points." - 92 Pts Mark Squires - The Wine Advocate

1984 Schioppettino Fantinel-
Schioppettino (meaning "gunshot" or "little crack" also known as "Ribolla Nera") is a red Italian wine grape grown predominately in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region of northeast Italy. The grape is believed to have originated between the comune of Prepotto and the Slovenian border where records of the Schiopettino wine being used in marriage ceremonies date to 1282.

Today planting in the Colli Orientali del Friuli Denominazione di origine controllata (DOC) where it produces very aromatic, medium bodied wines with Rhône-like qualities of deep dark coloring with violet, raspberry and pepper notes.
