Reviews & Wine description
1999 Chianti Classico Lucignano Riserva
This 1999 Chianti Classico is characterised by its ruby red colour which turns to garnet with time, with aromas of red and black cherry intermingled with notes of wild herbs, mint and a hint of earthy spice. It is supported by a racy acidity, mellow tannins and a long persistent finish. The label riserva is earned only when the wine has been aged for 24 months before commercial release.
Chianti, situated in Tuscany in central Italy, is home to probably the best-known and most iconic of all Italian wines. The area’s most highly regarded wines come from the Chianti Classico zone which is the heartland of the Chianti wine region – its traditional and longest-established vinicultural area. This fame is due not just to the high quality of the wines, but also to the classico zone's iconic Tuscan landscape and wine making traditions.
Chianti Coli Senesi, Caulio - Pietraserena
The typical characteristics this Chianti exhibits are a bright ruby colour which turns to garnet with time, a fruity nose with black cherry and violets, with a more pronounced character of finesse when the wine undergoes ageing. The palate is balanced, fruity, slightly tannic which is refined over time to a soft and velvet taste.
Chianti Colli Senesi is perhaps Chianti's most significant subzone, located on the hills surrounding Siena in the southern part of the Chianti region. The title is used to cover Sangiovese-based wines from the less prestigious vineyards of the area. These wines can be forward and fruity while still exhibiting Chianti's characteristic rustic charm.
