Wines and Reviews:
1967 Barolo Michelle Mascarello-La Morra:
Barolo is a traditional hillside village in the rolling hills of Piedmont, northwestern Italy. The vineyards and cantine (wineries) there have long been famous for producing some of Italy's very finest red wines – predominantly from the region's signature grape variety, Nebbiolo. All these wines share key qualities which define the classic Barolo style; the famous "tar and roses" aroma, a bright ruby color (which fades to garnet over time), firm tannins, elevated acidity, and relatively high alcohol.
1967 Chateau Calon-Segur:
Cellar Tracker 91 Points:
"Great old bordeaux. Good colour, soft nose with typical old bordeaux earthy aromas. Palate was sweet, well balanced, lovely finish just a hint of bitterness but a great wine, a real pleasure" Cellar Tracker Review 2014.
1967 Messias Single Harvest Port
*** 95 Points Robert Parker ***
The 1967 Messias colheita port has been aged in a barrel until bottling this year. The extended barrel aging has given this wine a complex fusion of dried fruit and cedar notes. On the palate the wine is smooth and full bodies with plenty nuts and sweet fruit on the palate, fine balance. A tremendous finish which goes on forever. There's no question about the quality on display here.
