Description

From the outstanding 1971 vintage, this barolo has a clear light brickish red colour. There is no mistaking this wine for a recent vintage from the nose. Aromas of smokey fruit, almond and wet earth. I was surprised at how much fruit this wine has left. Nevertheless it is still primarily an earthy old world style wine. This style is not for everyone it still has solid acidity with notes of strawberry, some meatiness, sweet cherry and an underlying minerality. Soft tannins which were still holding on. Light to medium bodied. A unique experience.
