Reviews
"Due to the fact that the 1959 was undoubtedly made from relatively young vines (the 1956 freeze caused a significant loss of vines at Canon), this bottle performed spectacularly. The sweet, chocolatey, jammy, black-cherry-scented nose and opaque garnet color revealed few signs of age. The wine exhibited an underlying herbaceous quality (young vines?), but its superb richness and chewy, viscous, thick flavors were sensational. There is enough richness and tannin for the wine to evolve for another 15-20 years. It is a magnificent example of Canon!" robert Parker, Wine Advocate, 1994.
"The Canon 1959 highlights the deficiencies in the 1961, the nose leaping out of the glass and embracing you with scents of game, blackberry, wild mint and hedgerow. The palate is medium –bodied, very natural and elegant with nigh perfect level of acidity. Red-berried fruit, a touch of leather and game, glides to a sublime, corpulent finish. A really beautiful Canon to cherish. Drink now-2020. Tasted September 2007." Neil Martin, WIne Journal. 2007
