Description

Presented in an Oak case as pictured

This fortified wine was part of the Massandra collection offered by Sotherbys.

The South Coast Dessert Rose Muscat 1945 is another rare wine from the legendary Massandra Collection. This wine was first produced in 1944 from Rose Muscat grapes grown in the vineyards of the Crimea. Rose Muscat is one of four Muscat varieties the two most well known of which are Muscat Blanc a Petits Grains and Muscat of Alexandria. The Massandra Palace lays claim to its place in history not only on the basis of its magnificent winery and cellars which were established in 1894 but also due to the historic Yalta Conference in February 1945 at which Churchill, Stalin and Roosevelt planned the defeat of Nazi Germany. It has been claimed that the final agreement from which Stalin benefited so much was partly due to the copious amounts of wine from the Massandra cellars that were enjoyed by the protagonists.

This fabulous dessert wine has a deep golden colour with distinct grapey aromas together with notes of rose and alpine meadow flowers. We are certain that this sweet wine will provide a great talking point at dessert.
