Hazana Vinas Viejas

***92 Points- Robert Parker***
The 2014 Hazana Vinas Viejas is simply one of the greatest values in Rioja that money can buy … Loads of lead pencil shavings, black and red currants, licorice and tobacco leaf all jump from the glass of this dense, ruby/purple wine. Soft tannins, medium to full body and fabulous intensity, make for a sensational Rioja."

Martinez Bujanda Crianza

Riojas have historically been classified by how long they are aged before the bottles are released. Crianza is the youngest of the aged Riojas. By law, crianzas must spend at least one year in oak barrels and cannot be sold until two years after the harvest, though in fact some wineries hold on to their bottles longer. No other category of Spanish red wine is as consistently satisfying and as good a value as Rioja crianza

We love the elegant style, impeccable balance and delicious plum, cherry and cedar flavours of a Rioja. This wine will accompany firm cheese, chops and dried aged meats perfectly.

Tempranillo, 2001

New

Castizo de Ricardo Benito, Oak Aged

Tempranillo is a red grape variety which forms the backbone of some of the finest wines from Spain and Portugal. Almost every red wine from Rioja and Ribera del Duero has Tempranillo at its core, and in Portugal the variety is widely used in the Douro Valley – under the name Tinta Roriz – both for table wines and fortified wines (Port).

A thick-skinned red grape with a high anthocyanin count that makes for deep-coloured wines with moderate tannins, Tempranillo is well suited to modern consumer tastes. While the variety lacks its own idiosyncratic flavor profile, the wide range of aromas detectable in Tempranillo-based wines result in tasting notes ranging from strawberries, blackcurrants and cherries to prunes, chocolate and tobacco.

Tempranillo, 2001

New

Legado Muñoz, Vino de la Tierra de Castilla

Grenache (Garnacha) is a red-wine grape grown extensively in France, Spain, Australia and the United States. It is particularly versatile both in the vineyard and the winery, which may explain why it is one of the most widely distributed grapes in the world.

In Spain, where it is one of the country's flagship varieties, it is known as Garnacha. It is grown in almost every area of Spain, but most notably in the north and east.

Produced as varietal wine, Grenache exhibits rich, spicy, berry flavors, particularly raspberry.
