Hazana Vinas Viejas

***92 Points- Robert Parker***
The 2014 Hazana Vinas Viejas is simply one of the greatest values in Rioja that money can buy … Loads of lead pencil shavings, black and red currants, licorice and tobacco leaf all jump from the glass of this dense, ruby/purple wine. Soft tannins, medium to full body and fabulous intensity, make for a sensational Rioja."

Rioja, 1989

Campillo Gran Reserva Rioja

This Gran Reserva shows that wonderful, classic old school Rioja nose of sweet cherries, cedar, beef blood and hints of dustiness. There's also a lactic note that blows off quickly. On the palate it's mature, but also sports some youthful qualities. The cherries initially have that dessicated quality to them that comes from age, but retains sweetness and are joined by earth, leather and spice flavors with worn wood. With air the cherry flavors really blossomed. Lovely sweetness throughout the mid-palate, though the finish does dry out a little. It's a little too butch to call it elegant, though it's certainly harmonious.

Rioja, 1981

Reserva Anares, Bodegas Olarra

A very beautiful wine for the wine lovers of old wine. You can expect all the characteristics a vintage wine normally has. Clear bright red colour with some brown colouration around the edge (only in a tasting glass, when poured in a normal glass, the wine is a lot darker). Nose of bouillon and stable. Nice ripe fruit that gets plenty of room, because the tannins have disappeared. Develops beautifully throughout the course of the evening.
