Amarone della Valpolicella, 2011

Terre di Pozzo, Amarone della Valpolicella Classico

On the nose, this well-done Amarone unfolds a complex bouquet of dark fruit flavours, vanilla and spice. On the palate, a densely textured body with intense fruit, embedded in a strong but fine tannins. Noble and long finish.

Amarone della Valpolicella is a rich, dry Italian red wine from the Veneto region. It is produced primarily from the Corvina grape. Amarone is characterized by ripe, bold flavors.

Directly after harvest, the grapes are air dried through a process called “appassimento”, which allows them to shrivel into raisins. This concentrates the sugar and flavors in the grapes, producing a distinctive and full-bodied wine well-suited to aging.

Chianti Montespertoli, 2011

I Casciani

The 2011 Chianti Montespertoli has a bright ruby colour which turns to garnet with time, a fruity nose with black cherry and violets, with a more pronounced character of finesse when the wine undergoes ageing. The palate is balanced, fruity, slightly tannic which is refined over time to a soft and velvet taste.

Chianti, situated in Tuscany in central Italy, is home to probably the best-known and most iconic of all Italian wines. This chianti is a Sangiovese based wine from one of the sub zones of Chianti, in the town of Montespertoli. This zone has the specific aim of creating wines for long term ageing.

Casalferro, 2010

Ricasoli, Toscana IGT

Intense and bright ruby red. Intense balsamic and spicy hints to the nose. Cocoa, pepper and liquorice and cinnamon blend with the fragrance of ripe red fruit.Massive and pleasant in the mouth, the red fruit mixes once again with the spices and the sweet and elegant tannins of the wood used for the ageing.

Today the New Casalferro is the result of seventeen years of experimentation: a straight Merlot obtained from a single plot of land: the homonymous Casalferro vineyard; located along the road that leads from Brolio Castle to the village of Monti in Chianti (in the province of Siena). A Merlot that speaks the language of Brolio: a glass of Casalferro wine will suffice to understand that we are in the land of the Ricasoli Barons.

Dolcetto d'Alba, 2004

Pio Cesare

A native black grape variety of Northern Italy grown almost exclusively in the provinces of Cuneo and Alessandria in Piedmont. It ripens before Barbera and Nebbiolo and is often grown in high north-facing sites which would be unsuitable for Nebbiolo. The finest Dolcetto wines come from grapes grown on soils rich with white marls, especially those found on the right bank of the River Tauro. The wines generally are low in tannins and acidity and are usually fruity and fragrant, often with hints of almonds.
