Prats and Symington, 2014

Chryseia

An extraordinary wine and a unique statement, the superb Chryseia brings premium Bordeaux technique to the character and richness of Portugal's distinctive local varieties. Like many 'challenging' vintages, 2014 favoured the top end - where the oldest vines in the best vineyards could be closely managed through the long dry summer. In fact the vast majority was harvested before the rain arrived - making a near perfect scenario. With a stellar track record, this always sells out. Decant or cellar - grab this before it goes!

This outstanding wine is the ultimate product of the Prats & Symington partnership, between the Symington family and French oenologist Bruno Prats.

Prats and Symington, 2013

Chryseia

The 2011 Chryseia was considered the third best wine of the world by North-American magazine Wine Spectator (2014). The 2013 vintage is also in the outstanding category displaying a dark, intense, opaque garnet. Very exotic on the nose, of characteristic aromas of dark fruits, yet some raspberries, light spicy notes. Despite the intense tannins, this wine is extremely elegant, round, well-structured and has a never-ending finish. It will last a very long time…

Caves Messias, 2010

Quinta Do Valdoeiro Syrah, Bairrada

This is a very good single varietal wine from the Bairrada region. It has a very intense violet colour. Aroma of fruit, spices and chocolate, honed by toasted oak barrels. In the mouth it has a strong structure and silky tannins, with a powerful and fresh flavor and a very long finish.

Bairrada is a Portuguese wine region located in the Beira province of Portugal, borded to the north by Lafões IPR and to the east by Dão DOC. Bairrada has the highest wine classification as a Denominação de Origem Controlada (DOC), and is located near the Atlantic Ocean, which climate has a moderated effect. The name “Bairrada” is originated from “Barros” (Clay) due to the clayey soils of the region, an important characteristic of the winery region.
