Croft Vintage Port, 1970
Vintage Port
Description: From the outstanding 1970 Vintage, an wonderful port scoring 91 points. A similar russet core, though a little clearer than the ’66. The nose has good definition and focus with an attractive bouquet of cooked meats, mulberry, spice and leather. Light and feminine, although it never really develops the nuance that I was hoping for in the glass. The palate is vigorous, note quite as elegant as the ’66, a little more alcoholic and unrefined, the finish more linear with liquorice, burnt toffee and raisin. Moderate length. Drinking now. Very fine. Neil Martin. Wine Journal. Rating 91 points (Wine Journal).

1969 Barbera, 1969
Clemente
Description: From the good 1969 vintage, Very typical with notes of stemmy herbs, strawberry and peach tones and top notes of nettles, dried lemon zest and flowers. Light nuances of caramel and old leather reveal the age. In the mouth the attack was dominated by sweet liquorice tones which yielded to subtle, acid-driven fruit on the mid-palate. Hints of herb and tar. Superb! Ready for drinking now but will keep to about 2011
