Fonseca 80 Years of Port Gift Set

Two 75cl bottles of 40 Year Old Aged Tawny Port presented in a double gift box with wine accessories

An excellent gift for an 80th Birthday or anniversary.

This sublime tawny port of great age and rarity has been aged in casks for an average age of 40 years. The port shows the old olive-gold hue of its many years in cask. Decades of evaporation have concentrated the wine to an exceptional density. Impressions of clove, nutmeg and an intense nuttiness converge both on the bouquet and palate. The wine's lush, almost viscous texture culminates in a finish of incredible length. Peter Symington recommends, “Aged Tawny Ports are not designed to age in bottle and therefore should not be kept in a cellar for further ageing.

Massandra, 1937

Tavrida Black Muscat , Sotherbys Massandra Collection (Includes Original Box as illustrated

Sotherbys Massandra Collection

Tavrida Black Muscat 1937 wine. The Black Muscat grape variety was brought to the Crimea in the first half of the XIX century and became known under the name of Muscat Kallyaba. The wine distinguishes itself with its strikingly bright juicy ruby-garnet colour, smartly sparkled in a glass with various soft glints of ruby and beautiful precious crystal colour.

The wineries in Massandra were built during the reign of Czar Nicholas II. During the process, wine caves containing thousands of bottles were constructed beneath the city. This “personal wine cellar” of the Czar contained tens of thousands of bottles.

Pocas Junior, 1937

Pousada Colheita Port

Like all Cohleitas, this wine is from a single vintage, but aged in wood until ready for release. All of the sediment has been left behind in the barrel, and the extended ageing in oak has given the wine a good degree of immunization against oxidation. This port is very pretty in the glass with hints of strawberry red flashing through a walnut colour. This is a powerful, concentrated, multi-layered wine with real tawny flavour.
