1992 Vintage Report

Bordeaux: Rain during the harvest produced wines of variable quality. The crop was enormous but most of the top vineyards adopted strict selection policies and discarded a large percentage of their crops. This led to wines that are characterised by being soft, fruity, and low in acidity level with light to moderate tannin levels and moderate to good concentration. The wines are now mature and should be drunk soon.

Port: The vintage was declared by some port houses who produced some rich and concentrated wines. The port is still young in 2008 and will benefit from further cellaring.

Chateau Leoville Barton , 1992

St Julien 2eme Cru Classe

Leoville-Barton might stand out among the classified estates of Bordeaux for lacking its own chateau, but it's what goes into the wine, not where it's made that really matters. Vinification actually takes place at Château Langoa-Barton, which shares the same ownership, but the estate's vineyards sit on 47 hectares of land between the Gironde and the huge expanse of vineyards belonging to Chateau Talbot. Expect a rich, densely concentrated wine with compelling fruit complexity, enticing inner-mouth perfume and suave tannins.
