Description

91 points, “Quite gripping, it is beautifully done and rather impressive, while always remaining graceful and impeccably balanced.” – Wine Advocate

Experience “The Art of Blending” with this luxurious gift pack, containing a full-sized bottle of Port and a perfectly designed glass that will show it in all its glory.

You know you’re in safe hands when the critics at Wine Advocate say: “Ramos Pinto's tawnies are very reliable, showing good concentration and balance all the time. They are typically among my favourites in their categories. You can't go wrong with them.”

This Tawny Port was created from a blend of Ports with an average age of 10 years, all harvested from the schist-covered slopes of Quinta de Ervamoira – the most inland site of Ramos Pinto’s vineyards. Breakfasty notes of plum jam, wild strawberry jam, apricot jam and marmalade combine with vanilla, leather, Chinese five-spice and crumbled red brick, to create a wonderful accompaniment to pâté, cheese, chocolate, dried fruit-based desserts and dinner parties.

Ramos Pinto is a name to be reckoned with. Firstly, they are owned by the Rouzauds – one of the wine world’s most powerful and discerning families who also look after Champagne Louis Roederer, Château Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande, Domaines Ott, Maison Delas and Champagne Deutz. Secondly, they were founded back in 1880 and played a leading role in defining the best grape varieties for the whole Douro Valley.

This quinta, in the upper reaches of the Douro Valley is spectacularly situated near the prehistoric rock paintings of Foz Coa. The Port, still poised between fruit and oak aging shows prunes, black plums and fine acidity, with a bite of spirit. It is easily ready to drink. Roger Voss
