Nebbiolo, 1975
Enrico Serafino
The Nebbiolo has a lovely earthy bouquet. The nose has cherries, dark cherries, tar and slight dried rose notes. Complex and layered. Nice acidity. Medium tannins still present. Cherries on the palate too. Nice finish. Great food wine. Nebbiolo is a fickle grape famed as much for its pale appearance as for its tannic character and produces some of the most perfumed and richly flavored wines. Though generally only medium-bodied, the wines possess rose and anise scented aromatics and deep flavors of cherry, orange peel and subtle green herb tones.

Quinta do Noval Nacional, 1975
Vintage Port
"Deeper in colour (as you would expect) but not deep for a Nacional, mid-garnet, thin browning rim; rather odd medicinal aromas, stewed plums; soft, sweet plummy fruit, rather simple and lacking structure with a slightly burnt edge, fuller with some grip on the finish but not really satisfying. I suppose this is not so bad for a 1975 though. Drink now and over the next ten years. 14.5. [Deep colour but already looking quite mature, beautiful liquorice and chocolate aromas, elegant concentration of flavour, firm, milk chocolate finish.]" Richard Mayson.

Rebello Valente Vintage Port, 1975
Vintage Port
Robertson Bros were the shippers behind this brand, which was once one of the most reputable, though, since a fine 1970, very little Vintage Port bears the name.
Drink it alone for dessert. It is like a delicious piece of fruitcake. Medium red, with a roasted, chocolate, earthy nose, medium-bodied, with plenty of tannins and roasted, fruity flavours on the palate.

Ryst-Dupeyon Armagnac, 1975
Ryst Dupeyron Reserve Joseph Millesime vintage Armagnac
50cl bottle
The 1975 Dupeyron Armagnac is the expression of a single year and has a unique character associated with the year and the cask in which it has been stored. These vintages are bottled at the alcohol level in which they naturally come out of the cask. There is a wonderful contrast between the sweet and sour flavours of wood, amplified by the strong alcoholic degree. Rich palate feeling the alcohol and the concentration of dry plums, spicy with persistent flavour of rancio and of spices, but round, soft and long in the finish. The tannins are very present, but full-bodied and round.
The Maison Ryst-Dupeyon was founded by Joseph Dupeyron in 1905. …

Spanna, 1975
Umberto Fiore
Spanna has often been cited by wine experts as one of Italy’s greatest ageing wines. Spanna’s longevity can be attributed, at least in part, to the addition of smaller amounts of less tannic, more acidic grape varieties. Tasting notes: The nose opens up beautifully after about an hour and the wine has gorgeous ripe and sweet fruit, nice acidity, and perfectly softened tannins.

Squinzano, 1975
New
Renna E. Oleria - Riserva
The Squinzano DOP, lying in the fertile countryside on the border between Brindisi and Lecce, takes its name from the small village of Squinzano, which covers some 30 square kilometres in the province of Lecce. Negroamaro predominates in the red blends here, with smaller amounts allowed of Malvasia Nera and other red varieties; a wine aged 24 months may bear the designation Riserva. The whites are based on the non-native Chardonnay, which must be 90% of the blend if listed on the label; the same is true of the other white grapes, Fiano, Malvasia Bianca, and Sauvignon Blanc.

Taylor's Port, 1975
Taylors Vintage Port (JEROBOAM 3L)
The is a rare Jeroboam 3L bottle of Taylors vintage port.
"This house must certainly be the Latour of Portugal. Their ports are remarkably backward yet still impressive when young. Of all the vintage ports, those of Taylor need the longest time to mature and even when fully mature seem to have an inner strength and firmness that keep them going for decades. The 1975 has turned out richly fruity, supple, and offers delicious drinking for the near future." Robert Parker Buyers Guide 1989.

Tokaji, 1975
Aszu, Minosegi Feherbor
Hungary’s most famous dessert wine is Tokaji the legendary sweet elixir. It can only be spoken in the superlative about this wine, as it is a medicine, a real nectar. The name Tokaji (which is of Protected Designation of Origin) is used for labeling wines from this wine district. The location of the region has a unique climate, beneficial to this particular viniculture, due to the protection of the nearby mountains, long warm autumns and mists that come in from the River Bodrog, creating perfect conditions for noble rot. Creating the botrytised ('aszú') grapes for which the region is famous. A wonderful sweet wine from this renowned producer. …

1974 Quevedo Port
Colheita Port
This is a great 1974 Colhieta from this family-run winery. The colour is still very intense, and the aromas are already where you would expect a Colheita of this age expect to be. 1974 is now over 45 years old but this wine is still really nice and very affordable.
This has amazing layers of aromas, nuts, crème brûlée, caramel, dates and apricot. A beautiful port – that you will combine with any food. But please enjoy it on it’s own.

This wine is made from grapes harvested in various vineyards located on hills in the Valpolicella zone (Mezzane and Tregnago hills).
