Agostino Brugo

Gattinara is a red Italian wine produced from Nebbiolo grapes grown within the boundaries of the commune of Gattinara which is located in the hills in the north of the province of Vercelli, northwest of Novara in the Piedmont region. The wine is made from a minimum of 90% Nebbiolo grapes and is renowned for its longevity. Notes: a meaty, chunky wine with a subtle, clean nose. Molinelli Giancarlo

This wine is blended from one of Italy's classic red-grape varieties, Barbera, and the lesser-known Croatina. Croatina is known locally by the synonym Bonarda, a title it shares with two other Bonarda grape varieties from various spots in northern Italy and even one from Argentina. The two permitted varieties are split roughly 60:40 respectively in the blends to create a relatively soft, well-rounded red wine with cherry-like aromas.

This 1976 wine was made from overripe grapes that were picked well after the classic vintage and in the greatest years only. The action of noble rot (botrytis cinerea) gave them an almost unlimited ability to age. They are part of the elite of the greatest wines in France.

Produced from over-ripened grapes in a selection of the oldest plots of the Hugel estate in the heart of the grand cru Schoenenbourg in Alsace. This fantastic historical terroir has been almost exclusively devoted to Riesling for centuries.

Quinta Cachao Vintage Port

This 1976 Santenay is an interesting wine from a challenging vintage. The nose is all strawberries and black earth. It has some Hoisin and coffee too. The palate is relatively light and lean, but flavours are fresh and delicious. It is lacy of texture. With air there are delightful rose petal notes that come to the fore and it puts on some mid-palate pud. It finishes with a minerally acidity.

The 1975 Dupeyron Armagnac is the expression of a single year and has a unique character associated with the year and the cask in which it has been stored. These vintages are bottled at the alcohol level in which they naturally come out of the cask. There is a wonderful contrast between the sweet and sour flavours of wood, amplified by the strong alcoholic degree. Rich palate feeling the alcohol and the concentration of dry plums, spicy with persistent flavour of rancio and of spices, but round, soft and long in the finish.
