Pauillac 1er Grand Cru Classe (High-shoulder)

Mahogany core with deep brick rim. The nose is actually better than I anticipated with some dusty black fruits, cedar a touch of game, but it certainly lacks vigour and cohesion. The palate is a little tawdry, slightly hollow with an cooked character that jars against some obvious green berries that found themselves fermenting. Linear towards the dry finish, moderate length.

This wine was very aromatic, showing of its St. Emilion characteristics. Hints of dark fruits with a range of tobacco & leather. Very round mouth feel and a smooth long finish.

Still alive! Beautiful claret with nose of plums, juice ripe grapes with graphite, coffee and truffles enhancing the experience. On the palate it is elegant with dark fruit and cinnamon and clove spice. Certainly will bring our its best character after decanting for 1-2 hours onwards.

" this is a lovely Cheval Blanc with an expressive, open-knit nose, again more merlot-driven than cabernet franc with tertiary fruit inflecting the red-berried fruits with just a touch of mulberry and fresh fig. St Julien 2me Cru Classe

Château Gruaud-Larose is a winery in the Saint-Julien appellation of the Bordeaux region of France. It is also the name of the red wine produced by this property. The wine produced here was classified as one of fifteen Deuxièmes Crus (Second Growths) in the original Bordeaux Wine Official Classification of 1855.

It took a skilled winemaker to produce a good wine this year, and luckily those at this storied second label were successful. Cantenac Margaux 3rd Growth Classification

Since the early 1930s, Boyd Cantenac has been owned by the Guillemet family who also run the nearby Chateau Pouget. The proprietor actually resides at Chateau Pouget since there is no official chateau at Boyd Cantenac, and the wines are vinified and cellared in a warehouse adjoining Pouget.
