Chateau Caronne St Gemme, 2017
Haut Medoc, Cru Borgeois, Bordeaux
*** 89 Points- Wine Enthusiast ***
The 2017 Caronne is a very impressive rustic-style, classic claret. It boasts a moderate, peppery nose. Very tannic with spicy black fruits. Impressive on the palate and well-balanced with raspberry notes and a touch of black pepper and burnt toast. Good density with a simple, corpulent finish. An easy drinking high quality wine.
Château Caronne St Gemme, Haut Medoc, Bordeaux, France, 2017
Grapes: 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot.
Always a reliable property, this estate has produced a wine that is already open and rounded. Its juicy acidity and fine black fruits are on their way, integrating with the wood and developing well. …

Chateau Cissac, 2017
Medoc, Cru Bourgeois, Bordeaux
Includes Leather Effect Presentation Box
*** 90 Points- Wine Enthusiast ***
A 2017 vintage Bordeaux wine. This is the beauty of decent Cru Bourgeois Bordeaux if stored well - it makes demands on the taster (patience and consideration). Not a wine from those who prefer to 'pop and pour' who miss out on most of the quality and character.
The 2017 has a good rich colour - browning just a little at the rim. This bottle demands patience when opening as it needs time to develop. Good blackcurrant nose. Plum, damson on the palate with balancing blackcurrant acidity. Dusty tannins on the end palate at first but the tannin softened in the glass, even without food. With food it is excellent. …

Cockburn's 2017 Vintage Port Technical Sheets
Tasting note
The Cockburn 2017 has resinous, forest floor aromas with bergamot notes mingling with rockrose scents.
Fresh, mineral notes are evocative of eucalyptus and anise. The palate is intense with layers of blueberry and kirsch flavours underpinned by peppery tannins which provide Cockburn’s signature grip. …

Croft Port, 2017
Vintage Port, DOC Douro
MAGNUM
*** 17.5/20 - Jancis ***
*** 94/100 - Vinous ***
*** 19/20 - Richard Mayson ***
Dense inky core fading to a magenta rim. A seductive Croft nose, ripe and voluptuous but with the depth and density characteristic of the 2017 vintage. As usual, plump, juicy blackcurrant, black cherry and raspberry form the backdrop. However, the nose is soon drawn into a vortex of heady, complex aroma in which resiny scents of eucalyptus and gumcistus blend with pungent notes of sage and mint, fresh hints of grapefruit and a mellow spiciness. On the palate, firm, sinewy tannins are wrapped in a thick envelope of dense, velvety texture. As is often the case, this is one of the most exotic and beguiling wines of the vintage. …

SERIKOS Vintage Port, DOC Douro ***18.5/20 Jancis Robinson***
Croft has announced the release of the first Vintage Port made from the produce of the old, historic vineyard plots on the company’s flagship property, Quinta da Roêda. Named Serikos, a historical reference to the property’s involvement in the production of silk following the destruction of its vineyards by Phylloxera and to the silken quality of its wines, it will be made available on allocation in very limited quantities.
TASTING NOTES.
Inky black centre in a slender ring of deep purple. The nose opens with a dazzling peacock’s tail of scents and aromas. The rich, ripe fruit, which is a consistent feature of the wines of Quinta da Roêda, …

Dows 2017 Vintage Port Technical Sheets
Tasting notes
It is rare to see such tremendous depth and intensity in colour as this wine displays The freshness of the floral aromas is very attractive with a dominance of rockrose, a flower that grows wild around the hills of Senhora da Ribeira. On the palate, it is exceptionally full-bodied, rich and powerful with black fruit coming to the fore. Gorgeous, ripe fruit is balanced by the fine tannin structure. On the finish, it is typically Dow, austere and somewhat drier than many other ports. …

Fonseca Port, 2017
Vintage Port- MAGNUM, DOC Douro
*** 17.5/20 - Jancis ***
*** 95/100 - Vinous ***
*** 18/20 - Mayson ***
A narrow magenta ring around a core of inky purple black. The nose opens with a burst of dark, woodland fruit, dense and succulent, blended with fresher, more vibrant red berry aromas. A slatey minerality holds this exuberant fruitiness in check. At this stage, the nose is still reserved and discreetly aromatic, revealing leafy, balsamic scents and cedary notes of sawn wood. The first impression on the palate, as on the nose, is of tightly packed, dense dark berry fruit, which then explodes on the mid-palate and surges into the long finish. The texture is round and velvety but the taut, sinewy tannins and a strand of crisp acidity provide firmness and structure. …

La Spinetta, 2017
Barolo - Vigneto Garretti, Piedmont *** 94/100 - James Suckling***
La Spinetta is one Piedmont’s iconic modern wineries having forged an enviable reputation over the last two decades. La Spinetta was founded in 1977 by Giuseppe Rivetti who established the original winery at Castagnole Lanze. Since then it is the second generation, spearheaded by Giorgio Rivetti, that has put La Spinetta on the map with the development of vineyards and estates, talented winemaking and an endless desire to try new things.
La Spinetta started in 1977 but its modern reputation was made in 1995 with the introduction of La Spinetta’s now famous Barbaresco (Gallina). In 2000 La Spinetta bought land in Barolo and set up a brand new winery to produce their Campè Barolo. …

La Spinetta, Piedmont Barbaresco- Starderi ***96 Point- James Suckling***
In 1996 we acquired the Starderi vineyard, which is located on the hills just behind those of Gallina.
Despite the two vineyards being geographically in the vicinity of one another, they hold very distinct characteristics which are determined by the crucial differences in microclimate, exposure and terrain. The Tanaro river, which flows at the bottom of the valley, affects the climate by mitigating both the extreme winters and the drastic hot summers.
Starderi always produces wines which express a rich character while maintaining great elegance. This difference is pronounced in the aromas: Starderi shows mainly hints of red berries and ripe fruit. …

Messias, 2017
Vintage Port, DOC Douro *** 91 Points- Wine Enthusiast***
The 2017 Messias Vintage Port is one of our best value 2017 ports. However, there is no compromise on quality from this popular Portuguese shipper. The 2017 has a nose of a classic port, It has a moderate nose of brandied alcohol. The port is slightly drier than the traditional English shippers and may be a little more approachable to those new to Port wines. Good palate of cherries, liquorice, a moderate hit of alcohol with substantive fruit. Very enjoyable with some blue cheeses and pears.

Red Wine, Alentejo
Lying on the slopes of the São Mamede Range at an altitude of 500 metres in the Alentejo sub-region of Portalegre, the property benefits from cooler and wetter conditions than the hot Alentejo plain.
