Rioja, Non Vintage

New

Lopez de Heredia,Vina Tondonia 6 Ano NV
Tempranillo Blend

Estimated to be one of the last production of this wine - 70's vintages

*Cellar Tracker Review 1/7/2021 - PAUL S : 90 Points*

This was slightly tired, but still charming. The nose had more than its fair share of balsamic and Madeira notes, but also a nice blush of dried cherries and berries, earth and cigarette smoke, and beyond that a lovely waft of perfumy florals. Funk aside, this was really nice. The palate was more alive than the nose let on, with fresh acidity and a rustle of silky tannins running through clear, pure notes of dried strawberries and cherries, with a whiff of cigarette spice and some wilting florals, all somewhat shadowed by a little layer of earth, meaty funk into a nice long finish.

Cask 33 Limited Edition Old Tawny Port

Sandeman’s Cask 33 is a single cask of Tawny Porto that is being launched to coincide with the celebration of Sandeman’s 225 years in 2015. The port includes wines of up to 70 years old that have been created by different generations of Sandeman master benders.

Each year the winemaking team taste all the wines on the aging inventory, and when necessary, make adjustments in keeping with the house style.

Sherry, Non Vintage

Very Old Bottled Palo Cortado
Bottled by Smallwood and Sons Ltd

A wine of great complexity which combines the delicate bouquet of an Amontillado with the body and palate of an Oloroso. Chestnut to mahogany in colour with a complex bouquet which harmonises the characteristic notes of Amontillados and Olorosos, citric notes reminiscent of bitter orange and lactic notes suggestive of fermented butter. It has a deep, rounded, ample palate with smooth, delicate aromatic notes appearing in the aftertaste, leading to delicious lingering finish.

Palo Cortado is an intermediate type of sherry and probably the most ambiguous of them all. This is fuelled by the vague

Sherry, Non Vintage

Williams & Humbert, Old East India No.15

A 1960's Williams & Humbert bottling, Old East India sherry. East India sherry is a sweetened Oloroso. The name refers to the East India Company, a British trading company that transported cotton, silk, spices, tea, saltpetre and other commodities from the East Indies. As a fortified wine (which lasted longer), sherry was taken along as ballast and to serve the ship’s crew on its transatlantic journey.

Oloroso means fragrant and the best examples will display dried fruits, leather, polished wood and exotic spices.

Sherry

Dry Amontillado
Emilio Lustau "Los Arcos"

This dry Sherry has a beautiful amber colour. Clear and bright in appearance. It is intense and elegant on the nose with saline nuances and a trace of toasted hazelnuts. Excellent balance and structure with a long finish. The typical dryness of amontillado sherry stands out and highlights its complexity. Lingering and satisfying aftertaste.

Serving Suggestion:
Enjoy at 12-13 Celsius degrees either with a traditional Amontillado pairing such as artichoke dishes or if you are adventurous try red tuna ceviche.

Grahams Port Bonds

It has long been a tradition for special occasions to be marked by the laying down of vintage port from the year of the event. Problematically, due to the fact that a vintage year is normally only declared in the second year after the harvest, the recipient of the gift often has to remain empty handed until sometime after the celebration.

Graham's are the first port company to overcome this problem,

Chateauneuf du Pape, 2007

Clos des Papes, Paul Avril et Fils
MAgnum 1.5L

Reviews:
97 Points Wine advocate
From Best of 2017: Joe Czerwinski. Several other 2015s equalled this wine (measured strictly by the points), but I love the floral aromas and silkiness of the tannins here. On a more philosophical note, I applaud the approach of continuing to make a single estate wine, rather than bottling individual parcels separately. Dec 2017

94/96 Wine Advocate
The 2015 Chateauneuf du Pape is reminiscent of a slightly improved 2005 and has a fresh, classic style with beautiful concentration, notable freshness, first-rate tannin quality, and the classic spice and sweet red and black fruits this cuvee is known for.

Dolcetto d'Alba, 2002

Terre Brune - Arione Angelo

A native black grape variety of Northern Italy grown almost exclusively in the provinces of Cuneo and Alessandria in Piedmont. It is relatively easy to cultivate, although it is susceptible to fungal diseases. It ripens before Barbera and Nebbiolo and is often grown in high north-facing sites which would be unsuitable for Nebbiolo. The finest Dolcetto wines come from grapes grown on soils rich with white marls, especially those found on the right bank of the River Tauro. The wines generally are low in tannins and acidity and are usually fruity and fragrant, often with hints of almonds.

1991 Chateau Duhart Milon Rothschild, 1991

Pauillac 4th Growth Classification

"Duhart's 1991 possesses more depth, ripeness, and potential complexity than the soft, light, one-dimensional 1992. Although the 1991 exhibits deep color, attractive, spicy, grilled nut, cassis, and weedy aromas, and fine depth, it reveals astringent tannin." Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, February 1994
