***94 Points-Silver- Decanter- 2023***
Special Offer | Was £22.95 | Now £19.95

Blandys 10 Year Old Bual was aged for 10 years in seasoned American oak casks in the traditional Canteiro system, whereby the casks of this wine are gradually transferred from the top floors of the lodge, where it is naturally warmer, to the middle floors and eventually to the ground floor where it is cooler. During this totally natural ageing, the wine underwent regular racking before finally being bottled.

Colour and Appearance: clear, amber colour with tinges of gold on the rim. Nose: superbly complex. Great intensity, revealing a bouquet of dried fruits such as figs and prunes, with notes of almonds and oak and subtle hints of toffee and vanilla spice.

Dow's, 2011

Vintage Port, Douro

This 2011 Vintage Port Wine from Dow's is "very inky in hue, this is very tight indeed, with classic Dow dryness/austerity – firm tannins and a yet to be mined concentrated seam of minerals, black currant, berry and cherry. At this very early stage of its life, it means you are more conscious of the spirit, but this positively unshowy Port plainly has a long life ahead given its deep reserves of fruit and imposing structure. Impressively hewn."Sarah Ahmed, www.thewinedetective.co.uk

Taylor's Port, 2009

Vintage Port, Douro

95 Points - Wine Journal

Reviews:Going back and forth, the Taylor's 2009 has a lighter nose than the 2007 with precise dark cherry, Seville orange, fresh fig and a hint of scorched soil. The palate is full-bodied packed with ripe black cherries, fresh fig and white pepper; very harmonious and focused although I feel that the 2007 has a little more depth and persistency. Very pretty and very pure, this Taylor's may well put on weight with a couple of years in bottle and merit a higher mark. Tasted May 2011.

Domaine de Chevalier, 2008

Graves Pessac-Leognan, Bordeaux
** 93 Points - Robert Parker **

** 93 Points - Robert Parker **

Reviews: One of the fabulous sleepers of the vintage and a wine for serious Bordeaux afficionados to consider buying, the 2008 is a blend of 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot and 9% Petit Verdot that achieved 13.5% natural alcohol. Surprisingly backward for a 2008, it is medium to full-bodied with moderate tannins, lots of purity and abundant charcoal, black currant and floral notes. The sweetness of the fruit, depth of flavor and textured, lush mouthfeel in this medium to full-bodied, ageworthy 2008 are impressive. Give it 3-4 years of cellaring and drink it over the following two decades.

Chateauneuf du Pape, 2007

Domaine Font de Michelle, Cuvee Etienne Gonnet, Rhone

The 2007 Chataeuneuf du Pape wine from Etienne Gonnet is a profound, smokey, leathery nose with an intriguing aromatic note like sandalwood. Beautiful palate with a gorgeous, silky texture, and a very sweet impression. Intense, wonderfully scented Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

Producer Guilllaume Gonnet produces this Châteauneuf-du-Pape from equal quantities of Grenache and Syrah, the vines farmed biodynamically and on average, between 50 and 90 years old. That age of vine leads to an especially intense, pure Châteauneuf-du-Pape, with tonnes of dark fruit aroma, touches of mixed herbs and liquorice.

100 Points - Wine Spectator

The 2007 Vintage Port Wine from Dow's has received ***100 Points*** from Wine Spectator

This has a superb nose of rich, ripe berry fruit with the typical slightly austere and firm reserve of Dow. Analytically drier than usual, it is still blessed with dense fruit on the palate, a magnificent structure, weight and impressively long finish. On this showing, Dow is a strong candidate for wine of the vintage.

Graham's Port, 2007

Vintage Port, Douro
Half Bottle
***97 Points Wine Advocate***

***97 Points Wine Advocate***
Reviews: "A candidate for wine of the vintage, the 2007 Graham’s Vintage Port is complete in every way. Opaque purple-colored, it offers up an ethereal perfume of smoke, mineral, Asian spices, incense, an amalgam of ripe black fruits, and a hint of chocolate in the background. This leads to a dense, super-rich, plush, opulent wine that hides its structure under all the fruit. Vibrant, impeccably balanced, and exceptionally lengthy, it will easily age for another 25-30 years in the cellar and drink well through 2050, probably longer. It is a tour de force." Warre's Vintage Port, 2007

Vintage Port, Douro
Half Bottle

93 Points - Wine Advocate.

"The 2007 Warre Vintage Port is one of the stars of the vintage. A glass-coating opaque purple color, it displays an expressive bouquet of Asian spices, incense, lavender, blackberry, and fruitcake. Plush on the palate with outstanding volume, it exhibits a sense of elegance as well as power. Savory flavors, plenty of structure for the long haul, and a lengthy, fruit-filled finish suggests two decades of cellaring are in order. This superb effort should still be drinking well in 2050." Reviews:
*** 94 Points - In Asia ***
"Deep garnet-black. There’s a wonderful purity of fruit on the nose with aromas of warm blackcurrant, dark cherries, dark chocolate, anise, cinnamon and a waft of cedar. The palate is relatively rich with a medium to full body and a good amount of ripe, mouth-filling fruit. Medium+ level of velvety tannins and medium+ acidity provide nice balance.

Dolcetto, 2004

Domenico Clerico - Visadi, Piedmont

A native black grape variety of Northern Italy grown almost exclusively in the provinces of Cuneo and Alessandria in Piedmont. It is relatively easy to cultivate, although it is susceptible to fungal diseases. It ripens before Barbera and Nebbiolo and is often grown in high north-facing sites which would be unsuitable for Nebbiolo. The finest Dolcetto wines come from grapes grown on soils rich with white marls, especially those found on the right bank of the River Tauro. The wines generally are low in tannins and acidity and are usually fruity and fragrant, often with hints of almonds.

The vine ripens late and is susceptible to many grape diseases including oidium. Wine produced from the grape has a characteristic dark tint and light plummy taste. Recent DNA profiling conducted at the research facility in San Michele all'Adige revealed Marzemino to have a parent-offspring
