Chateau l'Evangile is located on the plateau in the commune of Pomerol. It is between Chateau Petrus and Chateau Cheval Blanc. This wine is fully mature, quite round, fruity, soft, elegant, and charming with L'Evangile's telltale violet, raspberry-like bouquet, this medium-bodied, velvety wine.

Réserve de la Comtesse

This second wine, produced by Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande, is strongly characterised by its high proportion of Merlot. At the same time, the cabernet sauvignon gives the wine its structure and very “Pauillac” character. It is also very fruity, with lovely precision on the palate. This is a particularly delightful wine, with a wonderful structure and fine, elegant tannins. A perfect introduction to the mythical domaine of Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande.

Pessac-Leognan First Growth Classification

"A very earthy, melted asphalt, creosote-like nose intermixed with compost, decaying autumnal vegetation, and herb-tinged fruit is actually more appealing than it might sound. In the mouth the wine is fleshy, medium-bodied, relatively lush, but the garnet colour is showing considerable amber. Drink up." Robert Parker, 2003

Château Haut-Brion 1983 is a fully mature Left Bank Bordeaux from the stellar Haut-Brion First Growth. Located in Pessac-Léognan, Haut-Brion has the distinction of being the only property outside Médoc to be designated Premier Cru Classé in the 1855 Classification.

Pessac Leognan 1er Grand Cru Classe

The 1980 Haut prion is a flattering, gentle, medium-bodied wine with a smoky, vanillin oakiness, round, ripe flavors, and a soft, luscious finish. It lacks some guts and richness by the standards of most Haut-Brion vintages since 1978, but, nevertheless, it is a charming, lighter-weight, forward wine that has reached its plateau of maturity.

St Julien 2nd Growth Classification

**Cellar tracker review - 2013**
Clear ruby red with almost no bricking. Classic St. Julien nose with black currants, tobacco leaves and some pencil shavings. No signs of oxidation. On the palate surprisingly vigorous for a wine with 37 years under its belt. Acidity clearly dominates the almost completely resolved tannins. Slightly astringent towards the medium+ finish. A very impressive effort from Gruaud Larose in a rather weak vintage.

Pauillac 1er Grand Cru Classe,

From the famously tannic 1979 vintage, this Lafite is proving the more dismissive critics from earlier days wrong as it settles harmoniously into maturity with plenty of life and complexity remaining. At K&L, we are champions of great wines from lesser vintages, and here is a perfectly mature First Growth from a lesser vintage that may not be out of reach in price. Fans of classic wines from the Left Bank with preferences that favor the leathery and refined end of the spectrum will find much to appreciate here.

St Julien 2me Growth Classification

A deep tawny rim with a mahogany core. This has a delightful nose, very good intensity with notes of cooked meats, roasted chestnut, toffee and a touch of marzipan. It smells as if it is from a hot vintage! After five minutes in the glass, it become a little muffled but develops a touch of mint. The palate certainly has more fruit concentration than the 1980, a rounded texture, quite sharp acidity with notes of sour cherry, a touch of leather and a dry, rather gamey, but attenuated finish. Margaux Cru Bourgeois

From the very good 1979 vintage this Siran has a beautiful mature bouquet with black currants, tobacco and bitterness. Juicy, good sweet and bitterness. The aftertaste is not extremely long, but has good sweetness and even some good tannin. Although completely mature there is some power left and this wine is a true pleasure to drink.

Pessac Leognan 1er Grand Cru Classe

The 1976 Haut-Brion is medium ruby in color, with some amber creeping in at the edges. The wine has been fully mature since the early eighties, yet it is still drinking well. A spicy, earthy, oaky, moderately fruity bouquet offers elegance. On the palate, the wine is soft, round, medium bodied, and charming. Robert Parker.

Tasted at the Academie du Vin from ex-château bottles, the 1976 Haut Brion is actually a vintage that I have never tasted before... the bouquet has held up well with cocoa-tinged dark fruit, terracotta and dried blood. It feels a little diffuse, but it still rings of Haut Brion. …

Medoc

This wine really lives up to the nature of the vintage. Tannins still present , but sufficient fruit to balance the wine. Just a bit of bricking, slight sedimentation, colour still dark purple. Floral fruity nose, with a trace of iron. Slight chalky finish, clearly more tannic than it's age suggests. Suggest something meaty to go with the tannins.

The 1972 Chateau Pavie is fully mature and like so many wines from this vintage is in steep decline. One note found indicates that wine was way past its prime, but in fact it was still drinkable.
