This 2002 Burmester Vintage Port has outstanding provenance! This bottle has been stored at the Burmester cellars on Porto since bottling until it was acquired by us earlier this year.

from the very good 2002 Port Vintage the Burmester has a beautiful mature tawny colour. On the nose it has cocoa, chocolate together with a hint of mint. On the palate this is quite complex - medium bodied with a perfect balance between the acidity, tannins and flavours, there is a little spiciness in the mouth that adds to the experience. Long, long finish. This is in a good place and should hold well for a couple of decades. …

The 2002 Burmester Colheita Port is a classic wine of exceptional quality and elegance. The Port is made from a single harvest (a "Vintage Tawny") and aged in small 550-litre oak barrels in their Vila Nova de Gaia Cellars. It is bottled at least seven years after the harvest.

The 2002 Colheita has a Complex nose with dark berries, cress, coffee Full-bodied and great balance. Smooth palate that reflects the nose with a long fruity finish.

The 2001 Vintage Port Nacional is a late release, declared in 2003. Christian Seely, Owner of Quinta do Noval said that "The 2001 was extremely backward and quite closed up, dense and very tannic. Since we had just declared and released the 2000 Nacional, we decided to lay down the 250 cases of Nacional 2001. The late release has certainly tamed this. It still feels very firm and has a real backbone, but it is not overly drying and it is a lot more approachable than newly-released Nacionals can be.

Vintage Port

The 2001 Quinta do Vesuvio is a very dark ruby colour. The Touriga Nacional’s tiny yields brought great concentration to the wine, while the Touriga Franca, due to the good weather during the harvest, achieved perfect ripening, creating wines of great elegance. The Tinta Barroca was very ripe at the time of picking, with a higher than average baumé, producing wines of excellent structure and ageing potential. The old plantings of Tinta Roriz had lower than normal yields in 2001, giving wines with a typical concentration of berry fruit aromas.
