Blandys Madeira, 2004

Malmsey Colheita Madeira (H/Litre, 50cl)
Includes Original Gift Box

Made entirely from Malmsey grapes, which produce the sweetest style of Madeira, this 2004 vintage will match fantastically well with rich desserts or cheeses.

Blandy’s Colheita Malmsey 2004 was aged for 12 years in seasoned American oak casks in the traditional ‘Canteiro’ system, where by the wine is gently heated by warm air in the lofts of the company’s south-facing lodge in Funchal. Over the years the casks are transferred from the top floor to the middle floor and eventually to the ground floor where it is cooler. The wine is regularly racked during the ageing process and is finally bottled when the desired balance of maturity is reached.

Chateau Margaux, 2004

Margaux Premiere Grand Cru Classe

A Chateau Margaux 2004 vintage bordeaux wine. With as much Merlot in the blend as the 1990 and 1996, the quality of this wine is as good as any vintage that the winemaker Paul Pontallier could remember. This is as fabulous and as exciting as the 2000 vintage had been at a similar stage. The nose was simply beautiful - ripe, fine sweet, elegant and powerful with huge potential. The palate is expansive and multi-faceted. Alongside Latour, this is one of the two wines of the vintage.

Messias Port, 2004

Colheita Single Harvest Tawny Port

The Messias colheita port wine from the good 2004 vintage has been aged in a barrel until bottling in 2017.

It has a beautiful straw colour. Young, fruity fresh aromas that evolve over time, giving rise to a bouquet that brings out the aromas of dried fruits, aromas of roasting, wood and spices. Soft, harmony and complexity in the end. Great finish - excellent wine.

The extended barrel aging has given this wine a complex fusion of dried fruit and cedar notes. On the palate the wine is smooth and full bodies with plenty nuts and sweet fruit on the palate, fine balance. A tremendous finish which goes on forever.

Quevedo, 2004

Colheita Port

The 2004 Quevedo colheita port is an amazing value/quality port. The tawny has a medium to dark brick colour, hints of pomegranate clear and even from the centre to
the edge. Definitively on the elegance and purity on the nose which opens up notes of fresh almonds, dried figs and nutmeg. On the palate the 2004 is surprisingly fresh,
with layers of flavours ranging from almonds, grilled nuts and caramel. The balance between acidity, sugar and concentrated flavours lifts the mid-palate through a
remarkable fresh, polished and long aromatic finish. Excellent.

Winemakers Notes
The Spring of 2004 was dry and sunny and that gave us a good quantity of grapes on the vines.

Quinta de la Rosa, 2004

Vintage Port

La Rosa's classic house style achieved by slow maceration in traditional granite 'Lagares' has produced a wine full of luscious forward fruit with a very attractive nose and a long velvety slightly drier finish across the palate

La Rosa is a vertically integrated Quinta rising to 450 metres above sea level, boasting many hidden micro climates within its cirtilage. Where possible we vintage and mature these small 'lotes' separately in order to achieve the maximum complexity in the finished ports, which would not have been possible from a less diversely planted property.

Quinta do Noval Nacional, 2004

Vintage Port- SINGLE BOTTLE

A 2004 vintage port wine. We are thrilled to be able to offer Nacional 2004 at the same time. Christian fell in love with the wine after harvest, so the wine was declared but not released. Kept instead under the watchful eye of Technical Director Antonio Agrellos to see how it developed. Considering the pedigree, it comes as no surprise that the wine lived up to their expectations, and so now, 10 years after the harvest, the 2004 is ready for release.

At Quinta do Noval the bud burst occurred mid-March followed by a quick flowering in the end of May due to high temperatures and lack of precipitation.

** 90-92 Points (Outstanding ) Robert Parker ***

Reviews:
"Deep ruby/purple with a wonderful nose of roasted herbs and scorched earth, this wine has sweet cherry and black currant fruit notes along with hints of graphite and toasty oak. While pure, rich, and more powerful than usual, it remains elegant and precise, characteristics of this stylish wine. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2023.

This property is making impressive wines under the new administration of American Robert Wilmers backed up by his winemaking team led by Veronique Sanders. I have consistently had a tendency to underrate the wines young since they are relatively delicate,

Cotes du Rhone, 2003

Caves de Papes

Côtes du Rhône is a huge appellation in the south of France encompassing 40,300 ha. Plenty of white and rosé wine is produced in Côtes du Rhône but there can be no doubt that red is king. Usually Grenache will dominate the blend (except in the north where Syrah is allowed to be top dog, but these wines are relatively few) and is normally partnered with Syrah and/or Mourvèdre but a further 18 varieties are also permitted! A cheerful example might be light, soft, fruity and easy-drinking, while the finest examples may be full-bodied, concentrated, intense, spicy and ageworthy. But what they all invariably have in common is a fabulous sense of place and lashings of personality and character.

Croft Port, 2003

Vintage Port

A 2003 vintage Port Wine from Croft Port. A medium intensity Port with a garnet core and mahogany rim. A lovely pronounced nose of figs and prunes, with some walnut characters. Also slightly earthy. Good sweet fruit on the palate and a full mouth feel. This is followed by a long, smooth nutty finish. After a 40-year absence, the 2003 Croft was made by the use of traditional treading in stone Lagers. The 2003 reflects the benefits of two years of strict vineyard management with gloriously pure fruit and scents of wild blueberry and crême de more. The purity and expression of fruit persists on the palate, supported by dense but very svelte tannins, culminating in a long finish.
