Deep ruby in colour, almost opaque. Aromas of blackcurrant, redcurrant and balsamic are married with spicy notes of pepper and tobacco box, herbaceous nuances and a stony minerality. The palate balances power with elegance, with firm but ripe tannins and a lively acidity that carries the intense and complex flavours onto the lingering finish.

Ferreira’s historic Quinta do Porto estate is located in the heart of the Cima Corgo sub-region of the Douro, just downstream from the village of Pinhão. A 2018 Late Bottled Vintage Port Wine from Quevedo.

The 2018 Late Bottled Vintage Port (LBV) is a traditionally styled (lightly filtered but not cold stabilized) blend of Touriga Franca (35%), Touriga Nacional (15%), Tinta Roriz (20%), Tinta Barroca (22%) and Tinto Cão filling out the blend. It was bottled in May 2023 with a long cork and 84 grams of residual sugar after aging for three years in large French vats. Expressive and fruit-forward in its its dry fashion, this adds some structure, but the tannins are never too hard. It is easy to drink now. The depth is average and the power is controlled, although there is some bite on the finish. …

Very deep purple black at the centre, with a narrow purple red rim. Although the nose displays the seductive, opulent red fruit character which is a familiar feature of Roêda vintage ports, there are also intense, woodland berry aromas which add focus and finesse.
