St Estephe, 2nd Growth Classification, Bordeaux

Deep garnet color. Perfumed, vibrant aromas of black cherry, cassis, leather and oak spice. Big, sweet and rich, with lush black cherry and black raspberry fruit already offering enticing inner-mouth flavor. Less oaky on the palate than on the nose. Just a hint of herbaceousness. The 1997 Chateau Gloria is generous and well-structured, these intense, complex wines are typical of the Saint Julien appellation. The result of traditional vinification, they have a strong, rich colour. On the palate, they are expressive, rounded and supple. They should be kept for a few years to express their full potential.

This property consists of several plots located in the best terroirs of the appellation that Henri Martin, one of the great figures of the Médoc, had put under the same banner. Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, Bordeaux

The 1997 Chateau Larmande is evolved but still wonderfully vibrant and expressive St. Émillion. that feels like it is slowly approaching its plateau of maturity. The fruit has developed some tertiary characteristics, but there is still quite a bit of vibrant fruit left and the tannins come across as quite assertive and grippy, even after all these years. Very good value.

Léoville Las Cases is the most legendary wine of Saint-Julien: on a quality par with the Médoc's first growths, without the hefty price premium to match. It is a prime example of a Bordeaux 'super-second' - a second growth operating at a first growth level. Léoville Las Cases is also one of the largest, oldest and most picturesque of the Médoc's classified Bordeaux growths. Grapes are fermented at lower than average temperatures, which is partially responsible for the wines displaying some of the most exotic aromas and aromatic richness in the Médoc.

The 1997 Chateau Talbot has a saturated purple color, and a sweet, earthy, leather, and cassis-scented nose. In the mouth, the wine is fat and opulent, with low acidity. The finish is all glycerin, alcohol, and juicy fruit. It may be almost too low in acidity, but it is drinking well and can be expected to do so for another decade.

Owned by the Cordier family since 1917, the wines of Château Talbot have always enjoyed particular acclaim in the UK. An impressive 107 hectares are under vine here, with around 86% being devoted to Cabernet Sauvignon. The wines are strong, sturdy and built to last, with a certain ‘gout de terroir’. …

This wine is a blend of several grape varieties grown in the island, predominately Tinta Negra, harvested in 1997.

"A dark amber colour with a lucid and consistent yellow edge. More than a Marsala, the impact of the aroma is like a great Vincotto from the Marche region, although it is much finer. The bouquet has less caramel and is less volatile with more notes of prune, dried fruit and coffee. "The 1997 is an elegant Port, though having some good depth. Its tannins were melted and some secondary flavours were already starting to show, the fruit was chaging from ripe plums to candied figs. It is reaching its 2nd plateau of maturity.
Passadouro is an early drinker but this 1997 is one of the good port wines they made in the 90's.
