2011 Chateau Montrose,
St Estephe Second Grand Cru classé:
The dark ruby/purple-colored, slightly austere and angular 2011 Montrose possesses a more masculine style with firm tannin, medium body, and cassis, black currant and earth notes. The wine tails off slightly on the palate leaving an acidic, tangy character. It will benefit from several more years of cellaring, and should last for 15+ years thereafter. Quinta Senhora da Ribeira:
Quinta da Senhora da Ribeira is set in the remote, hot and dry Douro Superior and commands a magnificent north bank position, overlooking a broad sweep of the Douro. All the wine is produced by the traditional method of foot treading in the old granite lagares.
Tasting notes: Deep dark colour. The nose is dominated by ripe berry fruit aromas with a layer of spice giving great complexity. The mouth is very structured with a long and lingering fresh peppery finish.
