The Beaune Clos du Roi, bottled by Berry Bros. & Rudd, is a distinguished red Burgundy from one of Beaune's most highly regarded Premier Cru vineyards. Situated on the gently sloping hillsides to the north of the town of Beaune, Clos du Roi has long been recognised for producing wines of structure, finesse and remarkable ageing potential. Mature examples offer a wonderful expression of Pinot Noir, combining elegance with the complex tertiary characteristics that develop through extended bottle ageing.

Berry Bros. & Rudd, Britain's oldest wine and spirits merchant, has a history dating back to 1698 and is renowned for selecting and bottling wines from some of the world's finest regions. Their bottlings are highly regarded by collectors for their provenance and traditional approach, often providing a fascinating glimpse into the history of fine wine trading and cellaring.

The bouquet is beautifully evolved, revealing aromas of dried cherries, wild strawberries and red currants layered with notes of forest floor, autumn leaves and earthy spice. With time in the glass, further nuances of truffle, leather, cedar and dried rose petals emerge, creating an elegant and complex aromatic profile typical of mature Côte de Beaune Pinot Noir.

On the palate, the wine is silky and refined, with softened tannins and a graceful texture developed through years of bottle maturation. Flavours of red berry fruits, woodland notes and subtle spice are balanced by fresh acidity, maintaining vibrancy and elegance. The finish is long and persistent, leaving lingering impressions of earth, dried flowers and savoury complexity.

Now fully mature, Beaune Clos du Roi bottled by Berry Bros. & Rudd is best enjoyed in the near future. Decant gently to remove any sediment and serve alongside roast duck, game birds, mushroom dishes or mature cheeses. A charming and authentic mature Burgundy that beautifully captures the character of one of Beaune's finest vineyards.
