Description
The 1970 Cos d'Estournel is a classic Bordeaux that has been cellared well for almost 5 decades.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Tasted at “The Sampler” in South Kensington. It has been quite a few years since I tasted this Cos d’Estournel. This bottle had a much more herbaceous bouquet compared to eight years ago: undergrowth, tree bark, dusty mahogany bureau with vestiges of sweet red fruits eventually rising to the surface. The palate is foursquare and conservative with dusty black fruits and a dry, aloof finish that has its own “classic” charm...(NM) (9/2011)Sweet, cherry infused, almost cloying nose. Palate has good concentration and tannins.Dry. Earthy, compact finish. Palate is well-balanced with good concentration. Quite conservative and four-square.
