Description

Margaux is the name of both a single great Château and the surrounding area, a sub-region of the Médoc renowned for producing the finest, most elegant wines of Bordeaux. In truth, many neighbouring Châteaux have under-performed. The vineyards of Chateau Kirwan lie on the Cantenac plateau, neighbouring Prieuré-Lichine and Desmirail. The soils here are sandy with gravel topsoil.
Grape Variety: 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and, unusually, a high proportion (10%) of Petit Verdot; 18 months in oak (one third new)
Producer: A lesser-known and (hence) relatively good value Margaux estate, owned and run by the Schyler family, with Michel Rolland as consultant until 2007

Condition

Good level, label bin soiled and damaged
