The 1992 Château La Clotte is a mature Saint-Émilion Grand Cru that offers a fascinating insight into the character and evolution of Right Bank Bordeaux. Situated within one of Bordeaux's most prestigious appellations, Château La Clotte has long been associated with producing elegant, Merlot-driven wines that reflect the unique limestone and clay terroir of Saint-Émilion. After more than three decades of bottle ageing, this vintage displays the complexity and refinement that mature Bordeaux lovers seek.

Château La Clotte is one of Saint-Émilion's historic estates, with vineyards benefiting from the region's renowned soils and favourable microclimate. The château's wines have traditionally been crafted to emphasise balance and finesse, allowing them to develop gracefully over time. Mature vintages such as 1992 provide an excellent opportunity to appreciate the subtle nuances that emerge through extended cellaring.

The bouquet is beautifully evolved, revealing aromas of dried black cherries, plum and blackberry, complemented by notes of cedarwood, tobacco leaf and leather. As the wine opens in the glass, hints of truffle, forest floor and sweet spice emerge, adding depth and complexity to its mature aromatic profile.

On the palate, the wine is soft, harmonious and fully mature. Layers of dried dark fruit, earthy spice and savoury notes are supported by silky tannins and refreshing acidity, maintaining balance and elegance. The finish is smooth and persistent, lingering with notes of tobacco, woodland character and mature Saint-Émilion complexity.
