Description

This is 2010 Ricasoli is intense and bright ruby red in colour. Intense balsamic and spicy hints to the nose. Cocoa, pepper and liquorice and cinnamon blend with the fragrance of ripe red fruit.Massive and pleasant in the mouth, the red fruit mixes once again with the spices and the sweet and elegant tannins of the wood used for the ageing.

Today the New Casalferro is the result of seventeen years of experimentation: a straight Merlot obtained from a single plot of land: the homonymous Casalferro vineyard; located along the road that leads from Brolio Castle to the village of Monti in Chianti (in the province of Siena). A Merlot that speaks the language of Brolio: a glass of Casalferro wine will suffice to understand that we are in the land of the Ricasoli Barons.

A pure expression of Merlot, the 2010 Casalferro is a plump and modern wine teaming with black cherry and bold blackberry intensity. It makes a statement, thanks to the warm renderings of exotic spice and leather that fill in the back. That said, the wine’s style is by no means over extracted or over-the-top. In fact, it shows medium weight with polished tannins.
