Description

Appearance
A mature tawny-brick colour with orange hues at the rim. The wine is likely to be quite translucent with sediment present after more than fifty years in bottle.

Nose
Delicate aromas of dried cherry, wild strawberry, rose petal, forest floor, dried leaves and cedar. Further evolution may reveal mushroom, truffle, leather, game and subtle spice notes. Well-stored examples can still display surprising perfume and finesse.

Palate
Light to medium-bodied, with softened tannins and lively acidity carrying flavours of dried red berries, cranberry, sous-bois, tobacco, savoury herbs and earthy Burgundy character. The fruit is likely tertiary rather than primary, with complexity taking centre stage.

Finish
Elegant and fading rather than powerful, showing lingering notes of dried fruit, leather and gentle spice.

Condition

Good levels - Bin soiled labels
