Description
Dão is one of the oldest established wine regions of Portugal, located just south of the famous Douro Valley. The mountainous region is home to Touriga Nacional, the principle variety of port wine.
Quinta do Penedo, with an area of 20 ha, is located in the heart of the Demarcated Region of Dão. Its origin as a vineyard dates back to the year 1930, by the hand of Mr. General Santos Costa, having remained in the family until 1998, the year in which it was acquired by Caves Messias.
Tasting Notes Intense ruby colour. Floral, black fruit and balsamic aroma. Elegant structure, delicate character and with a fresh finish on the palate. 17,5 pts Vinho Grandes Escolhas.
Serving Tips & Storage Serve at a temperature of 16°C to 18ºC and pair this full bodied red wine with red meats and yellow cheeses. Store lying on its side at a temperature of 15°C away from heat and sunlight.

A wine that is only made in top vintages, this is fully mature. Its black fruits have developed into generous secondary flavours, and spice and tannins have come together with the wine's fruitiness. Drink this serious wine now. Roger Voss
