Quinta Das Carvalhas, 2020

Vintage Port, Douro
91+ points - Mark Squires Wine Advocate

Quinta Das Carvalhas Vintage Port is a field blend from old vines from the centenary vineyard. It is the top Port from the estate and needs some serious ageing to realise its full potential.

Tasting Notes
Deep purple with intense aromas of fresh blackberries and cherries and hints of floral fragrance. On the palate it is soft and approachable despite its young age, packed with jammy berry fruit and cinnamon spice. It shows good structure with high acidity, full body and ripe tannins that will allow it to age for at least three decades in the bottle.

Serving and Food Pairing
When mature this port will need to be decanted to remove sediment.

Guimaraens Single Quinta Vintage Port, DOC Douro
37.5cl HALF Bottle

Fonseca will release a 2018 Guimaraens Vintage Port, the first bottling under the Guimaraens label since 2015. Adrian Bridge remarked, “I am delighted that we are releasing Guimaraens Vintage from 2018. The Guimaraens concept is unique, a wine with the same make up and character as the classic Fonseca Vintages but made in a more approachable, early drinking style.” David Guimaraens added, “I believe that the 2018 is one of the finest recent examples of a Guimaraens Vintage, with its rich, dense woodland fruit and sturdy but well integrated tannins.”

Quinta do Vesuvio, 2018

Pombal do Vesuvio, Douro Red

One of the principal components of Pombal do Vesuvio comes from the terraced vineyards that surround the ancient dovecote (‘pombal’ in Portuguese) planted primarily with Touriga Nacional during 2000 in the heart of this legendary Douro property. Touriga Franca from the Vale da Teja and Minas vineyards is the other significant contributor to the Pombal, along with a smaller contribution from the Tinta Amarela from the Quinta Nova vineyard.

TASTING NOTE
Aromas redolent of cassis, liquorice and brambly, blackberry fruit, as well as appealing dark chocolate notes. Vesuvio’s signature thyme fragrance is also present.

Chateau Laville, 2016

Chateau Laville, Sauternes, Bordeaux
Sweet White Wine

Château Laville is owned by Jean-Christophe Barbe and his family. Jean-Christophe’s particular area of expertise as an oenology professor at the University of Bordeaux is ‘noble rot’ which, as a producer of Sauternes, he has had plenty of opportunity to study first-hand.

The vineyards for Château Laville lie on gravel soils underpinned by limestone. The best plots are used to make the Grand Vin. Several passes through the vineyard are needed to ensure that only the most botrytised berries are selected. The wine is a blend of 90% Semillon and 10% Sauvignon Blanc. It is fermented in temperature-controlled,

Chateauneuf du Pape, 2016

Chateau de Beaucastel Pierre Perrin, Rhone

*** 96+ Points Jeb Dunnuck,***

Being bottled the day of my visit, the 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape checks in as a blend of 30% Mourvèdre, 30% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 10% Counoise, and the rest a mix of permitted varieties. It offers a ripe, sexy, rounded style that quickly shows more structure, minerality, and tannin with time in the glass. Blackberries, blueberries, smoked earth, violets, and garrigue all give way to a full-bodied, deep, structured Beaucastel that's going to benefit from 5-7 years of bottle age and keep for two decades. It reminds me of the 2001.

***96 Points-Neal Martin, Vinous.com***

The 2016 Graham’s Vintage Port Wine is fantastically clear cut, with leafy black berry and blackcurrant aromas, fabulous sweetness on the palate, but also lift and elegance. “I think this could be one of the best we’ve ever made” Paul Symington told us. “on a par with the ’63, ’70 and ‘94”. Quinta do Ataide, 2016

Douro Red, DOC Douro

Quinta do Ataíde wines are made from organically farmed grapes grown on this fine 81-hectare vineyard that is situated in the remote Vilariça Valley of the Douro Superior. The Vilariça is a unique location, having a softly undulating landscape of traditional Douro schist based soils, mixed with some alluvial clay, that helps preserve moisture for the vines.

Made from vineyards in complete contrast to the steeply terraced slopes of the main Douro Valley, where rainfall is low at about 500 mm per year with very cold winters and hot summers. The combination of these factors contributes to the making of an exceptional wine that has wonderful aromas and concentrated colour and flavours,

Churchill's Port, 2011

Vintage Port, Douro

2011 has been widely declared a vintage year with quality levels hailed as exceptional across the board. Johnny Graham's Churchill's 2011, from Quinta da Grincha on the south bank of the Douro, is classic in style and has decades of ageing potential. The complexity and character of the wine is extraordinary and despite being made in very small quantities it is hard to think of any other wine producing region that can offer anything of comparable value. The Churchill's 2011 shone at a recent tasting of all the major ports and at this. Drink 2020 – 2035+.

‘This is a long-haul vintage with clout and finesse.

Quinta do Vesuvio Capela, 2011

Capela Vintage Port
SINGLE BOTTLE 75cl

The Capela da Quinta do Vesuvio is made in years when truly exceptional wines are produced – the only prior release was in 2007.

The principal grape varieties chosen were again the Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and the Sousão, all of which performed magnificently at Vesuvio in 2011. For the first time ever, Charles Symington included a small parcel of Alicante Bouschet in a Vintage Port. Through ongoing evaluation over the last few years, the Alicante Bouschet has shown itself to be a very impressive variety, contributing structure and colour, due to its intensely coloured berries.

The Touriga Nacional and the Alicante Bouschet were picked and fermented together on one lagar, as were the Sousão and Touriga Franca in early October.

Chateau Coutet, 2009

Barsac, Sauternes, Sweet White Wine

This 2009 sweet white wine from Barsac in Sauternes is made from Semillon grapes.

Tasting Notes Magnificent. Deep gold colour and with air rich open nose of lanolin, candle wax, dried orange peel, citrus fruits, crisp apples, floral notes of rose, dried tubers, dried faded potpourri over zesty bright pineapple. Good level of acidity balances the sweetness beautifully. Medium weight complete and wonderfully balanced.

Chateau Brane Cantenac, 2008

Margaux 2me cru Classe, Bordeaux
** 92 Points- RobertParker.com **

This 2008 Chateau Brane Cantenac is stunning, evolved, dark plum/ruby-hued that reveals aromas of the forest floor, sweet black and red currants, licorice and roasted herbs. Classic, elegant and medium to full-bodied, it provides a sexy, complex, intellectual as well as hedonistic turn-on. Drink this delicious Margaux over the next 12-15+ years. Score: 92 Robert Parker, Wine Advocate (194), May 2011.

The 2008 Brane-Cantenac is a blend of 28% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc and 70% Cabernet Sauvignon. There remains that eucalyptus tincture that I have picked up on previous bottles, though here it is less pronounced,

Pavillon Rouge du Chateau Margaux, 2008

Margaux, The second wine of Chateau Margaux

89 Points Wine Journal

Reviews "Bottled in June, the Pavillon is a blend of 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc. It has a very natural, almost understated nose with dark berried fruit, a touch of mulberry and crushed stone. Fine delineation. This is a tensile Pavillon, crisp acidity on the entry, slightly hard tannins at the moment, touches of blackberry and raspberry leaf. A little short and pinched on the finish at present, but it should soften with time. Fine. Drink 2012-2020." Neil Martin Wine journal

Ryst Dupeyron Armagnac, 2006

Ryst Dupeyron Reserve Joseph Millesime vintage Armagnac
50cl bottle
Includes original cardboard gift box

The 2006 Dupeyron Armagnac is the expression of a single year and has a unique character associated with the year and the cask in which it has been stored. These vintages are bottled at the alcohol level in which they naturally come out of the cask.

Tasting Notes
There is a wonderful contrast between the sweet and sour flavours of wood, amplified by the strong alcoholic degree. Rich palate feeling the alcohol and the concentration of dry plums, spicy with persistent flavour of rancio and of spices, but round, soft and long in the finish. The tannins are very present, but full-bodied and round with a slightly oily texture that is silky and enhances the overall experience.

Domaines Barons De Rothschild (Lafite), 2006

Los Vascos Cabernet Sauvignon, Colchagua -Chile

I am delighted to say this was one of the best wines I have ever tasted. In the nose carried some ageing notes, but generally still familiar ripe pronounced Cabernet aromas and spiciness. On the palate, fascinatingly complex, layered fruit and spice, some jamminess but at the same time good acidity, full body, lots of tannin, long long length.

Pauillac 4th Growth Classification, Bordeaux
*** 93 points - Robert Parker ***

Château Duhart-Milon is a neighbouring property of Château Lafite Rothschild and was acquired by Domaines Barons de Rothschild Lafite in 1962. Oral tradition presents “Sieur Duhart” as a privateer of Louis XV who settled in Pauillac in his retirement and whose house on the port of Pauillac inspired the label of Duhart-Milon wines. The 1855 classification elevated Château Duhart-Milon to the rank of the only 4th Grand Cru Classé in the commune of Pauillac.

Located in the north of the Pauillac appellation, the vineyard of Château Duhart-Milon is set against an area of over 100 hectares of marshes, meadows, and woods.

This Port is made from the very best selection of fruit from Quinta do Bomfim in Pinhao.
