Taylor, Fladgate, & Yeatman (often simply Taylor Fladgate) is one of the largest port wine houses. Founded in 1692 in Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal, it is also one of the oldest. The house invented the style of late-bottled vintage port. Taylor Fladgate's vintage ports are some of the most sought-after and expensive ports in the world.
In addition to Vintage Port, Taylor's has also enjoyed considerable success with its Quinta de Vargellas, under which label Vintage wine is made in good years that have not been declared. The range has been developed with Quinta de Terra Feita in the Pinhão valley and Quinta do Junco, Vila Nova da Gaia and Xisto.
The Port wines are typically closed and austere when young; it is only with adequate ageing that they loosen up and offer their subliminal qualities.

VINTAGE PORT
95 Points - Wine Journal
Reviews:Going back and forth, the Taylor's 2009 has a lighter nose than the 2007 with precise dark cherry, Seville orange, fresh fig and a hint of scorched soil. The palate is full-bodied packed with ripe black cherries, fresh fig and white pepper; very harmonious and focused although I feel that the 2007 has a little more depth and persistency. Very pretty and very pure, this Taylor's may well put on weight with a couple of years in bottle and merit a higher mark. Tasted May 2011.

Reviews: The 2007 Taylor Fladgate Vintage Port is a blend of multiple sites meant to express the house style in a great year. It displays a superb aromatic array of pencil lead, Asian spices, incense, blackberry, and floral notes. Dense, suave, and opulent on the palate, this is a mouth-filling, intense, layered wine that has superb grip and concentration. It will effortlessly age for 25+ years and still be delivering pleasure at age 50. " Wine Advocate 2010

Quinta de Vargellas Vintage Port
*** 17.5+/20 Wine Doctor ***
*** Decanter magazine: Silver (2001 vintage) ***
A delicious, single estate vintage port showing a deep purple colour and aromas of violets. Good conditions in 2001 led to a marvellously rich and ripe harvest. The palate is big and broad with black fruit flavours, hints of liquorice and stewed fruits. The finish is rich and long. A delicious wine with hard cheeses.
"There was a time when Taylor's release of Vargellas offered a chance to snap up a good value, maturing Port bargain; but in the last few years we seem to have skipped very quickly from the 1988 to the 1998 and now to the 2001 vintages. …

Quinta de Terra Feita Vintage Port
Quinta de Terra Feita's vines have been supplying Taylor Fladgate with the highest quality grapes for over a hundred years.
This famous old estate is one of the most substantial properties in, what is considered by many, to be the finest wine producing area of the Upper Douro. The Quinta is situated on the western slopes of the Pinhao River Valley. With over 61 hectares under vine it produces 1,300 hectoliters of port wine.
The wines of Terra Feita are all produced in traditional granite lagares on the property. This ancient method still produces the best quality wine; the gentle action of the foot carefully extracts the maximum colour, fruit and tannins from the wine. …

Vintage Port
96 Points - Robert Parker
97 Points - Wine Journal
Reviews: "Saturated black/purple-colored, with stunning aromatics of blueberries, blackberries, licorice, and iron, this spectacular vintage port is one of the stars of the vintage. Extremely full-bodied, with silky tannin, spectacular concentration and purity, multiple flavor levels, and an evolved, forward personality, this is an exquisite yet precocious 1997 vintage port. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2030." Robert Parke Wine Advocate, 2000
"A deep black inky core with deep ruby rim. The nose dose not have the definition or the ripeness of the -92 yet it is cut from the same cloth. …

Quinta de Vargellas Vintage Port
Reviews: "Very typical Taylor's style on the nose, rather reserved, spicy and stylish fruit. Gentle, and a lovely silkiness to at the start. Fine fruit, very stylish composition. Appropriate grip and texture. Lots of tannin evident on a second taste. This is rather good. From a Port Styles tasting. 16.5-17+/20 (November 2007)" Wine Doctor, Online

Vintage Port
"Typical for Taylor's. Notes of woodspice and pepper, very slightly spirity. Nevertheless, a delicious texture on entry, supple and stylish, although with a very firm weight, firm tannins and good acids. Again this is fine to drink now, although it still holds some potential now. Very good indeed, bordering on excellent. From a Port Styles tasting." 17.5+/20 (November 2007), Wine Doctor (online).
