Taylor's Port, 1977
Vintage Port
The 1977 Taylor's Vintage Port is an incredible wine from an outstanding vintage. Great plum red, vibrant. Fresh nose, clean fruit with delicate floral notes. A wine with great complexity of fruit – berry and spice, dense, luscious and concentrated, yet with a soft, delicate finish which belies the inner strength.
Reviews:
Robert Parker writes.... "This house must certainly be the Latour of Portugal. Their ports are remarkably backward yet still impressive when young. Of all the vintage ports, those of Taylor need the longest time to mature and even when fully mature seem to have an inner strength and firmness that keep them going for decades. …

Warre's Vintage Port, 1977
Vintage Port
"This house makes rather restrained yet rich, flavourful vintage port. Their vintage ports seem slow to develop, and have a unique mineral-scented character that gives them their own complexity and style. The 1977 is quite powerful, very deep and intense, particularly for Warre." Robert Parker, Buying Guide 2nd Ed.
Parker rating 92/100 (outstanding)

Ryst Dupeyron Armagnac, 1976
Ryst Dupeyron Reserve Joseph Millesime vintage Armagnac
50cl bottle
The 1976 Dupeyron Armagnac is the expression of a single year and has a unique character associated with the year and the cask in which it has been stored. These vintages are bottled at the alcohol level in which they naturally come out of the cask. There is a wonderful contrast between the sweet and sour flavours of wood, amplified by the strong alcoholic degree. Rich palate feeling the alcohol and the concentration of dry plums, spicy with persistent flavour of rancio and of spices, but round, soft and long in the finish. The tannins are very present, but full-bodied and round.
The Maison Ryst-Dupeyron was founded by Joseph Dupeyron in 1905. …

Amarone della Valpolicella, 1976
Farina
This wine is made from grapes harvested in various vineyards located on hills in the Valpolicella zone (Mezzane and Tregnago hills). Notes: Color: strong ruby red. Clear and transparent. Bouquet: notes of vanilla and ethereal airs depending on the period of aging in the barrel; notes of sweet fruits such as currants, blueberries, cherries depending on the varieties of grapes. Flavor: wine with a velvety, raisiny character combined with the structure and typical stylish bitterness to give it good balance. …

Arthur Hallgarten, 1976
Bechteimer Gotteshilfe Beerenauslese, Riesling
Sweet White Wine
Historically the most famous Rieslings of the Rheingau have been the very sweet Beerenauslesen and Trockenbeerenauslesen styles. The grapes for this iconic Riesling were picked late in the season where the noble botrytis had its chance to impart its special aromatic components to the grapes. You should expect ripe tropical aromas with layers of honey and hints of spice. On the palate it should be decadently sweet with dried tropical fruit, honey, figs and marmalade. The high acidity should have balanced the sugars well, rendering a wine that is still fresh but with the special aromas derived from ageing. …

Barolo, 1976
Fontanafredda, Barolo, Piedmont
Barolo is known as the 'king of wines' and is made from the Nebbiolo grape. Heady aromas of rose, leather, vanilla, cherry, pepper, cranberry, strawberry. Fruits are perfectly knitted with the tannins and acidity. It's a powerful wine but remarkably subtle. Don't underestimate it and certainly serve it with food to show at it's best. Nebbiolo has naturally high tannins and acidity, so it will take on full-flavoured, rich foods no problem at all.
