"This is a workmanlike Montrose with a deep garnet core. The nose is sous-bois, leather and decayed autumn leaves, rather enervated by time. However, the palate is appealing with a core of red-berry fruit that is uncommon on wines of this vintage. It is a little diffuse but there is very fine structure and has retained Montrose’s typically robust structure and backbone. Rather austere towards the finish that has softened to the extent that it reminded me of a mature Saint Emilion. Tasted April 2011." Neil Martin, Wine Journal
