Description

The 1955 Chateau Rieussec has a golden orange colour with mild, dark roast marzipan, orange peel and marmalade on the nose. The palate has a touch of nuts and orange marmalade with some botrytis notes. It is surprisingly fresh and lively with a clean flavour and high acidity. Very complex and still drinking very well!

Château Rieussec, located in the Sauternes appellation of Bordeaux, France, is renowned for its prestigious history and exceptional sweet wines. With a heritage dating back to the 18th century, the estate's vineyards cover approximately 90 hectares, primarily planted with Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc, and Muscadelle grapes affected by noble rot. Benefitting from gravelly and clay-limestone soils, Château Rieussec crafts wines that embody the elegance and complexity of Sauternes terroir. Known for their richness, sweetness, and vibrant acidity, the estate's wines exhibit luscious fruit flavors, honeyed notes, and a distinct botrytis character.
