The 2022 Claudia's Branco Reserve is a blend of Gouveio (52%), Viosinho (25%), Códega (18%) and Folgasão for the rest, all aged for eight months in one-third new French and Hungarian oak. It comes in at 12.9% alcohol. This handles its oak flawlessly, which means that the fruit shines through and the freshness takes control. There's a juicy and tasty finish with just a little acidic bite. I'm not sure this will evolve much if you age it, but it might hold on and become more interesting over the next couple of years. 'Cordon Cut' refers to a complex, highly risky process requiring both skill and experience, which involves cutting the vine canes when the grapes are ripe, allowing the remaining fruit to concentrate and raisin naturally on the vine. Graham's The Stone Terraces Vintage Port is produced from two low-yielding vineyards of just under 3 hectares laid out on magnificent stone terraces at Quinta dos Malvedos. The Symington family only produce this Vintage Port when these vineyards deliver wines of incomparable elegance and complexity. Given that the stone terraces are comprised of just a limited number of vines, the quality does not always align with the pattern of classic Vintage Port declarations - as was their assessment for 2021 and they are not producing any classic Vintage Ports from this year. …
