Description

The appellation of Chablis is over a hundred kilometres from the most northerly part of the nearest, central-vineyards of Burgundy, while the vineyards of the Aube district, which produce Champagne, lie only twenty-five kilometres away. Indeed, viticulturally speaking it is very closely related to Champagne, and it is only because it formed part of the Duchy of Burgundy that it has always been considered a wine of that region.
Domaine Jean Goulley is a relatively new company that was formed in 1986 when Jean, already an owner of 6 hectares of vineyards realised his old dream of looking after his own vines and to make his own wine, full time. 10 years later, his son, Philippe, joined the family company. Of the 6 hectares, 4.5 are in the Premier Cru districts of the area and today constitute the heart and soul of the Domaine, which has now grown to 18 hectares, producing around 11,000 cases a year.

Domaine Jean Goulley makes excellent examples of dry, mineral and full flavoured Chablis and their Premier Cru wines are quite superb.

Grape Variety: Chardonnay from their 2.5 hectare vineyard. The average age of the vines is approximately 35 years . The yield is an average of about 60 HL per hectare.
