Description

This Marchesi de Barolo from the outstanding 1971 wine vintage is considered to be one of the finest types of wine in the world and is often referred to as 'the King of wines'.

Reviews: "The wine has a clear, pale intensity, garnet-brown colour. The nose is clean, medium intensity, with aromas of grilled herbs, sweet tea leaves, earth, hints of cherry fruit. With more air, classic roses and tar, which then faded to reveal truffles after an hour plus. On the palate, dry, high acidity, resolved medium tannins, medium body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of earth, sweet tea leaves, slight red cherries, grilled herbs, and eventually truffles. Medium+ finish. Very good quality. Excellent provenance. This has survived the years well. What aged Barolo should taste like." Cellar Tracker

Pair this wine with rich meat focused dishes like braised short ribs, beef roasts, lamb or veal chops. Here you'll find that the smoke and earthy qualities of the wine are complemented by the dish. Feathered game, such as duck, goose, partridge, or quail are also excellent.
