Our mission is to maintain our place as "The UK's most respected Fortified retailer as judged by our peers and customers" Awards and customer reviews are important to us in achieving this mission as they provide a benchmark of our achievements. Over the years we have targeted two main awards Decanter and International Wine Council - here is how we got on and our commentary.

No Decanter Retailer Awards this year - they are taking a pause whilst they decide whether to continue. We are very grateful that IWC stepped up to restore the Fortified category and we duly obliged with a strong application.
2023 Decanter - Sweet & Fortified Specialist Retailer of the Year

Decanter - Vintage Wine & Port is a true specialist and outstanding in its field.
There was no IWC Fortified category in 2023 so Decanter was the only show in town. The category is an odd one as it covers sweet wines as well as fortified. Over the previous year we had developed our sweet wine offering and we were pretty happy with our offering. Slightly dissapointed we did not win this outright!

"Vintage Wine & Port does a great job with a huge range, at a time when Portuguese wine seems to be, in the words of one judge, ‘having a moment’ in the UK."
Our first year of entering this category! We thought why not enter? - we have gradually built up a lovely range over the years and when you fold in our Madeira collection we are actually carrying quite a large stock. Much to our suprise we came runners-up.
2022 IWC Fortified Specialist

In 2022 we were getting the hang of the entry process and put in a good application. This was the third consecutive time we had won the IWC award.
2022 Decanter - Sweet & Fortified Specialist Retailer

"Vintage Wine and Port won for its epic 1,500-strong list, with the sweet wine range in particular having been bolstered this year (from 18 to 145 wines), as well as its efforts to win over a younger audience through YouTube and social media." Judges Comments
2021 IWC - Fortified Specialist
Winner
Another award affected by COVID. We had a lot to say this year as we worked hard for the category conducting virtual tastings with our suppliers and keeping Port flowing into the UK.
2021 Decanter - Sweet & Fortified Specialist
Runner Up
Decanter - Vintage Wine and Port offers an outstanding collection of old and rare wines.
The moral of this one is to read the small print and answer the questions. We focussed heavily on the Fortified category but neglected to talk about our sweet wine collection. Of course the award went to a sweet wine specialist this year
2020 Decanter - Sweet & Fortified Specialist

The judges recognised our unsurpassed product range, passion, knowledge and innovation as key factors.
No IWC awards this year due to COVID but Decanter ran their awards remotely so flushed with the success of the IWC 2019 we decided to enter - and won!
2019 IWC - Fortified Specialist

Our first award application and our first success! VWP had never entered a competition before and we lacked a little confidence on this one. A joyous result for Vintage Wine and Port as we were up against some much bigger competitors including Waitrose!
