Ramos Pinto, 2015

Ramos Pinto Vintage Port 3 x 75cl.

"A wine with attractive aromas, fruit and rockrose, a good body with a long peppery finish. A Vintage which will age for many years."
Ana Rosas, Master Blender

2015 was an excellent year in the Douro, with a very dry growing season and lower than average rainfall. A dry winter was followed by an atypically warm spring, allowing grapes to ripen fully in time for harvest in late August.

The Vintage is made from a blend of grapes from old vines grown in the Quinta de Ervamoira (Douro Superior) and Quinta do Bom Retiro (Cima Corgo). Grapes from Quinta de Ervamoira produce powerful wines with great structure, fruit intensity and body.

Ramos Pinto, 2011

Vintage Port (MAGNUM) in original wooden case.

96 pts Wine Spectator - Deep purple colour, typical of a young classic Vintage. Elegant and fragrant aroma, a denoted fresh and fruity nose of raspberry and ripened plum, with a touch of resin and mint. In the mouth, it is soft yet full-bodied, a solid structure of polished tannins supports the ripe red fruit, a touch of mineral and freshness, notes of mint and dark chocolate. Power and very tasty end. A classic Vintage.

Ramos Pinto, 2009

Late Bottled Vintage Port presented in carton box

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - 93 Points
The 2009 Late Bottled Vintage Port, bottled in November, 2013, is a blend of 70% Touriga Nacional and 25% Touriga Franca, plus some dollops of Sousão and Tinta da Barca. It comes in at 94 grams per liter of residual sugar. Compared to its older predecessors in this vertical, this was rather hard to drink until it was retried a few days later. The mid-palate concentration is about the same, but the power on this youthful wine is another issue. The tannins are rather drying and aggressive on first pour, even if the big fruit is also front-and-center. It is certainly a very different vision of LBV Port than a lot of people will be accustomed to,

Ramos Pinto

Quinta de Ervamoira
10 Year old tawny Port in Retro Kiss Tin

Red Tawny, orange coloured with a touch of green.

Nose: Rounded, generous, with a light, balanced, vinous touch. Wood aromas: vanilla and old Port casks. It is of the fruity, tawny type.
Palate: Smooth and full bodied on the palate. From an initial unctuousness, there appears a fresh, soft fruit, finishing with a light, acidic, woody note.

After taste: The fresh fruit is still noticeable, entangled in the aging process in wood. Good structure and a perfect balance between fruit and alcohol.

Made with high quality wines from Quinta de Ervamoira by blending of wines from harvests from different years.

Ramos Pinto, 1970

New

Vintage Port

From the outstanding 1970 vintage, the Ramos Pinto is a beautiful port. Excellent colour with a little red. On the nose jammy strawberries, spice, a hint of pepper and liquorice. On the palate, so beautifully smooth and in great balance, red fruit some violets. A long long finish. This is a beautiful wine.

Reviews
"Mature in appearance with a wide rose rim; 60% opaque but full of fine sediment. Delicious redcurrants on the nose, mature and sweet. Rounded and sweet on the palate with lots of sweet fruit but lacking a little acidity so feeling a touch flabby. Very sweet on the late palate, with lots of parma violets which appear on and dominate the aftertaste.

Ramos Pinto, Non Vintage

Ruby Port

asting Notes: The Ramos-Pinto Ruby has a much denser, redder color than the Tawny. A cornucopia of aromas greet the nose: cherry, blackberry, plum, and raspberry. In the mouth it is fresh, vibrant and fruity; its attack is much more voluminous than the Tawny's, due to its youthfulness. The finish is persistent and aromatic, leaving the opulent fruit flavors reverberating on the palate.
Serving Suggestions: Considering its freshness, fruit and body, this wine should be drunk at an ambient temperature (between 16-20° C; 60-68° F). It is most wonderful with cheese and biscuits, or sweet desserts that are not acidic.

This is still going strong, bursting with damsons, blackcurrants, raisins and figs. Full-bodied, rich and sweet. The alcohol content was a little too harsh and assertive early on, becoming better-integrated with time and air.
