Description

Bottled July 2002.

Appearance

Deep mahogany with copper and amber highlights. Exceptional viscosity, reflecting many decades of maturation in oak.

Nose

Profoundly mature and complex, opening with walnut, antique furniture polish, cigar box, dried fig, prune and orange peel. Layers of dark toffee, coffee bean, cocoa, leather and old oak emerge with time. The hallmark rancio character of great aged Armagnac is likely to be prominent.

Palate

Silky, concentrated and remarkably integrated. Flavours of dates, raisins, candied citrus, walnut and dark chocolate unfold alongside notes of spice cake, tobacco leaf and polished oak. The spirit should display tremendous depth without excessive heat despite its age.

Finish

Exceptionally long and refined, with lingering notes of dried fruits, nuts, leather, mocha and sweet spice.
