1977 Barbaresco – Cav. Ceste (Piedmont)

The 1977 vintage in Piedmont produced classically styled wines with structure and steady ageing potential. Cav. Ceste, a traditional Piedmontese producer with roots in the early 20th century, is known for crafting wines in a classical style, emphasising balance, regional character and patient maturation. This Barbaresco reflects that traditional approach to Nebbiolo.

Tasting Notes:
Now displaying a mature brick-garnet hue with amber highlights at the rim, the nose is gently evolved and savoury. Aromas of dried cherry, rose petal and redcurrant mingle with notes of leather, tobacco leaf and forest floor. With time in the glass, subtle hints of truffle, dried herbs and warm spice emerge. On the palate it is medium-bodied and harmonious, with softened tannins and a fine thread of acidity that preserves balance. Flavours of dried red fruits, savoury earth and delicate balsamic tones unfold gradually, leading to a smooth, elegant and contemplative finish.

Serving & Food Pairing:
Decant carefully to remove sediment and allow the wine to open slowly before serving. Best enjoyed at cellar temperature. A natural partner to braised meats, truffle dishes, mushroom risotto or mature hard cheeses.
