Description

1977 Barbaresco – Giordano (Piedmont)

The 1977 vintage in Piedmont produced classically structured wines, favouring balance and steady evolution. This Barbaresco from Giordano reflects a traditional approach to Nebbiolo, crafted in an era when extended ageing and patient cellaring shaped the wine’s character over time.

Tasting Notes:
Now showing a mature brick-garnet hue with amber highlights at the rim, the nose is gently evolved and savoury. Aromas of dried cherry, rose petal and redcurrant are layered with notes of leather, tobacco leaf and forest floor. With time in the glass, subtle hints of truffle, cedarwood and warm spice emerge. On the palate it is medium-bodied and harmonious, with softened tannins and a fine thread of acidity that preserves balance. Flavours of dried red fruits, savoury earth and delicate balsamic nuances unfold gradually, leading to a smooth, elegant and contemplative finish.

Serving & Food Pairing:
Decant carefully to remove sediment and allow the wine to open slowly before serving. Best enjoyed at cellar temperature. A natural partner to braised meats, truffle dishes, mushroom risotto or mature hard cheeses.

Summary:
A mature and characterful Barbaresco from a traditional Piedmont producer, the 1977 Giordano offers classical Nebbiolo perfume and savoury complexity developed through decades of bottle age.
